This R9 Rawlings outfield glove is superb. I bought it for my 8 year old grandson. It is the 12" glove. Break in went well. I beat it, intermittently for 3 days. During the 3 days I used Sarna glove conditioner 2x a day. The Sarna conditioner soaked into the glove easily and the leather became very soft and pliable. The glove is going to last gim for years to come. He is on a 9u kid pitch travel team and the glove works great. No problem for him to open or close the glove on his hand. I ordered this glove and I also got the "Sure catch" Rawlings glove to compare when I got them shipped. My 8 soon to be 9 is using a 10.5 Misuno right now and the more he's getting into baseball and the more it's getting competitive, you see the importance of getting a quality glove for safety purposes. This glove is super super nice. The leather is very nice and the firmness to the glove is not bad at all. It does need to be broken in. My boy couldn't close the glove but once I start beating up the glove for him and start working it in for him, it'll be just fine. The inside of the glove is luxurious as well. It does look a little big for him, but like I said he's going to be 9 soon and I know the 10.5 is too small for him. The baseball barely fits inside the glove so it was either the 11 or 11.5. After paying 100bux it's better to get him a little bit bigger glove and just have him beat it up for the years to come and have it be the best glove for him. ... show more

This is a well-built glove that I'm sure will last for years. However, the glove was super stiff upon arrival and not "game ready" or broken in as advertised. My son was able to use it almost instantly with no issue, and probably minimal breaking in. It's probably his main glove from here until he needs an adult fit. His grip isn't as strong as most, and he's had no issue with this glove. Bought it based on reviews saying the R9 contours are the best youth gloves, and I'd say they're accurate. ... show more

I highly recommend this glove. I am a 12U coach and it is a perfect fit for this age group. Also, the quality is top notch. Very well made. My first baseman has this fielder's glove and the first base mitt. Best gloves on the team.

I bought the 11.5" infield / pitcher model of this glove for my 9 yr old son who is a lefty and on a 10u travel team. The glove seems very well built. The glove I received was on the stiffer side so I had to break it in with two rounds of the Aso hot water method and a glove mallet (and playing catch). I am new to breaking gloves in but was able to do it so don't be worried about that (you can do it!). ... show more

Bought this for my 9 year old so he could have a glove to use for a few years. This is a solid glove made from good leather. After about a month it has broken in nicely. Oil it when you get it and wrap a ball in it when not in use.
