This is a good introduction to assembly language on the raspberry pi.

    • Lack of editing/proofreading hurts an otherwise great book
The content of the book and the hand-holding approach taken by the author are certainly helpful. There's a lot to like about this book, and he really does start from the very beginning and slowly work his way up to more difficult concepts. That's a good thing, especially when dealing with a topic as notoriously difficult as assembly language. However, the frequent errors (duplicated words in sentences, omitted words, etc.) are seriously distracting and deeply hurt the professionalism of the book. I encourage the author to hire a proofreading service for future editions. That would certainly have earned the book a 4th or 5th star from me.     • This is a complete RPi Assembly Language Guide
I am pretty sure I have purchased every RPi text Mr. Smith has written. This edition is the most complete and the only one a reader needs to purchase. Earlier editions were fragmented and supplemental books were necessary. There were also several of the texts that had a diversion to RISC OS rather than Raspi OS. While RISC was a very good OS for its time last century, it is fiddly to use in modern times. Raspi OS is a very complete OS that supports all of the RPi hardware features. Since Raspi OS is based on Debian it is a very versatile learning system. The material is covered well, the explanations are easily understood. It is a very good tutorial textbook. ... show more
