Description

The tenth edition of Operating System Concepts has been revised to keep it fresh and up-to-date with contemporary examples of how operating systems function, as well as enhanced interactive elements to improve learning and the student's experience with the material. It combines instruction on concepts with real-world applications so that students can understand the practical usage of the content. End-of-chapter problems, exercises, review questions, and programming exercises help to further reinforce important concepts. New interactive self-assessment problems are provided throughout the text to help students monitor their level of understanding and progress. • Congratulations!
I'm reading it. It seems an example to follow in the literature Operating Systems. Plus points: supplementary documentation available slides summary... less points: a bit expensive, but maybe legitimate... an example to follow I could eventually translate it to mother language Portuguese (less spelling faults), but 9th edition is already available... thus, somebody else had already the idea related with publisher entreprise, and is probably presently busy with translation of this edition => it shows it deserved to be translated... congratulations christianideas.eu tries to help 'about' section ... show more

  • The Kindle version is not Zoomable, making it an inconvenient read
The content of the book is great, but the Kindle version, for being $90 after tax, should be able to be zoomable, but it is not. This makes it hard to read on a phone as I either need to zoom in and then zoom out to turn the page or not zoom in at all.

  • Excellent
This is what computer-related books should be like. It is thorough, in depth, information packed, authoritative, and exhaustive. You cannot get this kind of excellent information from the Internet - or many other computer books these days. I have a degree in CIS but missed out on the OS courses (took different courses instead). So years ago I bought what was at the time the newest edition of this book, and loved it. A few years later I bought an updated version, and now - even more years later - bought the newest version as of today. It's a shame that quality computer books are declining so rapidly in number. I hope they continue to update and publish this book for many years to come. ... show more

  • Classic Textbook
This textbook, affectionately referred to as "the dinosaur book" has been a perennial favorite in big Computer Science departments for the last 30 years. I learned from it in graduate school at UIC and taught a graduate class using it at SLU.

  • O Gate of Knowledge, for cheaper options just buy the e-book or download it from somewhere lol
Great book, only the pages are uncolored, and some features are not in the book that are only available in e-text,e-book,ePUB or whatever it is called. You need to read both to get its full potential. Defeats a bit of my purpose to reduce eye strain.

  • Nice book, came with multiple stuck pages
Many of the pages in this book are stuck together at the bottom, and require damaging the pages to pull apart. This is extremely annoying.

  • Good book, good paper quality
The book is well organized, and it's a required textbook in my school. Anyway, pretty well-written.
