Does NOT fit the model D2.This item replaces discontinued item numbers R2809 (D4), and R1556 (D3).Some older versions may have a silver warning label with item number R6853 in lower corner. Current factory original water pans do not.This is a very common item to receive a generic instead of an OEM original from some sellers. The Rainbow original water pan is stamped on the bottom "MADE IN THE USA"The GENERIC water pan has a silver warning label on the top.

I have owned a Rainbow Vacuum Cleaner for the past 13 years. It is an awesome piece of equipment and they are incredible cleaners. Just recently the water basin blew a hole during use for some unknown reason. (Probably age) I decided to turn to Amazon to purchase a new water basin. I knew the part would be expensive as was the original purchase of the cleaning system from another vendor. However, Amazon's price was $11.00 cheaper than going through a Rainbow authorized dealer. I purchased the part from Amazon and it works perfectly. It fits a little less snug in the wheeled base than the original one, but that is really not a problem. It works great! I would definitely purchase other parts for my Rainbow in the future. ... show more

    • So Happy that It Fits My SE Model Manufactured from 1980 to 1986.
I needed a replacement right away for my old Rainbow water basin because after 30+ years of use, the old basin blew apart when the suction was too great. That happened because while I was using the round dusting brush, something got stuck blocking the hose. Water, water everywhere! And lots of dog hair with it. Thank goodness I was able to find this replacement (amazing considering the age of the Rainbow!) and was able to have it delivered in one day. I have now used it, it fits exactly as it should, it is much nicer looking with no scratches, etc. And it is so much better than spending the money for a new vacuum that wouldn't last nearly as long. ... show more

I was surprised to find this so I was glad I could get a replacement. The original water basin cracked. Not sure how, but my best guess is that after years of use (since 1987), the clear plastic could no longer sustain the vacuum pressure and split in a perfect circle along the ridge of the bottom of the basin. The water inside poured out all over the floor. Luckily it was on hard floor so it was not too difficult to clean. Just hope this basin lasts as long. ... show more
