  • Beautiful Rug Projects
This book is devoted to several types of rugs using fabric and rope. If you are seeking a rope bowl instruction or pattern book, this is not the one to buy. There is only one bowl in the book.

  • Cool
These are beautiful rug techniques, although I was unaware I would need that mesh backing for almost every design. I was trying to make just simple ones, but im still going to give these other rugs a try!

  • Good ideas
This book gave me more ideas what to do with the fabric wrapping.

  • Eye candy for the crafter
I have admired rag rugs for a long time, but I needed some guidance on how to make one myself. This book is full of colorful projects, with all the directions needed. With this book as inspiration, I’m sure I will make many of the designs. Here is a coiled rope piece I made for starters. It will be a hot pad for the table, about 12” across. Here it is in process. ... show more

  • very disappointed
The media could not be loaded. This is a relatively thick book full of full color photographs and color illustrations on nice paper. Love all that. But very disappointed in content. All of the 8 types discussed require you buy things. All require buying a type of burlap called Hessian 10 hpi which I cannot find. (I do not know why you couldn't just use rug canvas which is available everywhere...it's not addressed at all.) One requires you buy rope to cover, two require looms (two different types of looms no less), three require a special tool (one tool I've searched for and can only find in the UK), and two require using a sewing machine to make sewn rugs. The basic braided rag rug is not addressed at all. Neither is the "braid in" style of rug which is what I was hoping to learn. I was looking to recycle old clothes and fabrics into rugs that I could make while sitting in front of the tv, not having to go to a store to buy looms, rope and more fabrics and searching the world for a "rag rug spring tool". You get maybe one page teaching you how to do a technique, and none of them have any photographs, only a couple of illustrations. Yet the projects get page after page after page of full color photographs. The projects look nice but I'd find them almost impossible to replicate using recycled fabric/clothing as you'd never have enough of any one color to complete them as shown. A few use small amounts of lots of colors so you could do those. So I find it impossible to do or learn these techniques as I can't find the burlap or the tools and do not want to buy looms or rope. Had I seen this book in a store I would not have purchased it. It's not returnable so I'm stuck with it now. ... show more
