  • Radtel 860 an amazing handheld radio.! Best Hand-held radio I ever owned!
Color: With SW/MW Antennas
What a Great Radio but hard to program manually. In any case I use the passive loop antenna outside my apt overhang balcony. AM/SSB comes in good and SW comes in good. Have not tested all VHF/UHF or aero bands yet. HF comes in reasonably well with SW loop antenna that is included with radio. The AM loop one does not seems to do as well except using a passive am and HF loop antenna (sold on amazon--search for passive loop antenna). The SI 4732 chip that is used in these radios internally needs a little more better antenna that the portable ones. This chip is revolutionary and made small enough inside your radio to bring expanded coverage for the especially for SW on this hand held radio. Programming by cable is simplest way and also you can reprogram the key buttons using the software and programming cable (which does not comes with it.) Watch you tube on the explanation of how to program by software and manually. Manual is hard to follow or understand!. I ordered the progamming cable separately. Anyway, Now I could monitor NOAA Weather Band, GMRS and Ham Radio. I have both the GMRS and Ham radio licenses. But will first check and make sure it properly operates on both those spectrums. Make sure your radio operates on the right FM bandwith setting so that you operate properly on ham radio and GMRS/FRS spectrum. Also check on FCC accepted specs before operating and transmitting. Otherwise, this radio has all the bands and frequencies to monitor for emergency and for enjoying leisure times. If traveling or at home with this radio get a small passive loop antenna to setup like at a park and you will be amazed how well it works. Most of all it feels and handles very weill in your palm of your hand. Feels like a well-made radio! Enjoy.! Paul K. --Meteorologist. ... show more

  • Strong audio, solidly built, RSSI indicator, spectrum display, capable radio!
Color: With SW/MW Antennas
A very good purchase for combined receive (RX) of HF + airnav + broadcast FM, and 2m/440 transceive! Very strong audio, good HF RX, good airband RX, very cool spectrum view & scan, RX RSSI indicator, HF seems fairly sensitive, large amount of customization - which is not for the timid! You will either love or hate this radio - there is no in-between! Tinkerers will absolutely love it! (There is a lot to play with.) Solidly built radio. Included "ring" antennas are kind of cheesy, but they do actually tune and work well. I recommend removing the VHF/UHF whip if you want to use the ring antenna. Otherwise the spacing is tight and coupling may occur between antennas. I absolutely recommend programming this radio using a computer. Doing so via the keyboard/menu system can be done, but it will get a bit tedious after 10 or 15 channels. Those wanting a "technical radio" will enjoy this unit. If you just want a 2m/440 band transceiver, you probably won't find a less expensive HT with better audio than this one! The spectrum scope is awesome and doubles as a scanner with 2MHz bandwidth. All in all, a solid purchase for the price! ... show more

  • Sounds absolutely great. Very well built.
Color: Without SW/MW Antennas
The media could not be loaded. Happy to see this type of radio being manufactured. The first one I bought and it works absolutely perfect. An absolute joy to learn how to use. The selectivity and sensitivity are amazing for a radio several times this cost. So far I've spent many hours enjoying the Radtel. Great to use alongside an online sdr shortwave like kiwisdr or using your own sdr based hf reciever to locate stations. In dense fm broadcast locations an fm band stop can be a good investment although the selectivity of this unit is excellent. Battery lasts a very long time. This is by far the coolest radio in my collection. Hit the add to cart or buy now button. You'll be so glad you did! ... show more

  • Nice radio, tough radio, easy to program radio.
Color: Without SW/MW Antennas
Normally I don't say good things about a company's mistake. I ordered 2 RT 880 batteries from Radtels website but got 860's instead so instead of making it a big hassle I bought the Radtel RT 860 radio and was surprised by it now I actually like it maybe a happy accident.

  • Impossible to use.
Color: Without SW/MW Antennas
Unless you are an expert in radios you will not be able to use this product. I wanted a handheld CB but I can find zero clear info on how to make it a CB, which is supposed to be a function. The youtube tutorials are useless because they are made by radio nerds who talk to fast and assume we know what they know about programming radios. It looks like a nice radio but I can't use it. ... show more

  • Amazing!
Color: With SW/MW Antennas
Love it! Just love this radio. I also ordered the 880 now too from Radtel. Quality radio, the belt clip is super strong and nice and tight. Good battery life, the dohnut antennas are not real good though. I got a telescoping CB antenna for HF at 27MHz. Overall this is a great radio for the price. It's a low price, super budget radio that does a LOT! ... show more

  • A very good dual band radio from Radtel.
Color: With SW/MW Antennas
Nice economical dual band radio with fair HF reception. Slim and compact radio though not as svelte as my Yaesu VX6 but the battery life is much better than the Yaesu. The display may be hard to read for some as the text seems smaller than most of the radios I own. It has a robust belt clip. The battery seems to last forever. The spectrum scope is OK. Love the ability to program all of buttons with functions of your choice. AM and FM broadcast work very well. Claimed transmit power and spurious emissions compliance for 2M and 70CM are on point. Scan speed is slow but it gets the job done. Due to filtering limitations for HF bands the noise floor can be quite high, though tweaking bandwidth will help with some of that. I tried a long wire antenna at home and it seemed to just raise the noise floor. I’ll have to get it out of the house, away from the burbs and see if that improves. I’m running a Comet SMA24J dual band whip antenna and it fits the socket perfectly. Overall it’s one of my favorite radios and I own Icom and Yaesu top tier radios. ... show more

  • Great radio with many features!
Color: Without SW/MW Antennas
This radio has many features that supplement the typical VHF/UHF radio, like its powerful programming abilities and many listening bands, e.g. air band. The negative for the radio is the poorly written manual, which makes the learning process very time consuming. Additionally, like many low cost ham radios, spurious emissions are problematic. Overall for the price, it's a nice radio. ... show more
