When I ordered these I thought they were NEW. when I got them they were covered in sand. So NOT new and USED. Didn't have a choice but so send them with my 10 year old son on his overseas trip with his dad. My suggestion is to be wary of shoes that say new. They may come with the beach the previous kid played on.

These are good quality water shoes. The sole has a thick tread to them like a tennis shoe to prevent slipping or hurting feet on rocks. The shoe is made with a stretchy material with velcro to secure them. My son doesn't like to play barefoot in our backyard when we use our splash pad, pool, or inflatable water park. He likes the shoes so he can get out in the yard to play without hurting his feet on rocks or grass and dirt sticking to his feet. The nonslip tread keeps him from slipping and falling and also gives him a good grip climbing up and sliding down the inflatable water slide. These shoes would be great for swimming in lakes or rivers and also public splash pads and pools. Highly recommend!

It seems that we received a used pair, even though we ordered new. The shoes were obviously covered in beach sand right out of the package. However, the shoes are still in decent condition and after a good wash they should be fine for what we need them for. However, I would consider choosing another product if something like this would bother you. I cannot yet comment on the durability or performance of these swim shoes.
