I bought these boots for rockhounding along the river. With quite a ways to hike in, I didn't want to have to wear heavy rubber boots through the woods, or carry them in. These worked great! Good tread, warm, and their light weight made hiking in easy. Unless I step in water above the finger pulls, my feet stay warm and dry. I did put fabric waterproof spray on them before wearing.
