When you think you have these secure on your pie or pizza, and put them in the oven, as they heat up, they tend to expand and fall off . I start securing the ends with foil wrapped around the seam ends.

Regardless of the fact that they have regular openings around the edge to "lock" the strip in place, they never held for me. I have glass pie pans with side handles at the top. I have never been able to figure out how to keep these protectors in place, no matter what configuration I tried. You might have better luck if you have different pie pans., but I'm not gonna buy new pans just to use these. ... show more

Is have been using this gadget for years. If you bake a pie from scratch or cook a premade pie crust from the freezer, this is a fantastic tool to use. Simply lay the silicone strip over the outer edge of pie and you will not over cook the crust edge. It allows you to focus on other things instead of babysitting a pie. Normally, you have to use foil to protect the crust from scorching. I buy these and give them to new cooks who have not seen this product. I just gave 5 of them away. Great idea for the price. I'm fairly new to the pie making world. My favorite pie is apple, but it just doesn't taste right with burnt pie crust edges. My aunt recommended these pie crust edgers to me. Using foil is a pain in the neck. These silicone edgers are amazing. These are adjustable so they can fit around almost any pie. They allow the edges to cook but do not allow them to burn. Genius! While I thought these were a great idea they don't really work well. They keep falling off the pie dish in the oven. Would not recommend for keeping pie crust from burning. Not sure what else you would use them for? they are oven safe.

My quiche takes almost an hour in the oven. Its full of meat, veggie and cheese filling but by the time the filling is set, the crust has always been burnt. These are easy to use and will fit on ANY sized pie plate/tin. The silicone is easy to wash in warm, soapy water and leave to air dry.
