(See first and second photo) I have an iPhone 6 in a Otter Box Defender and decided to mount the receiver between the hard case and the soft rubber outer cover to ensure best possible charging. Not sure if there is a difference between the one labeled as advertised in photo on Amazon and the "Universal" one I received but the portion of the sealed package received looks to be a little taller and I had to trim a little piece out of the top in order to prevent it from protruding into the area of the case where the Apple Logo is visible. The sealed area across the top of the receivers packaging shipped to me is wide enough that I did not compromise the seal. I had initially tried to fold it over but the packaging is stiff enough that folding only lifted the soft outer part of the case away from the hard shell part of the case. (see 3rd photo) I have a Qi fast wireless charger on my desk and a factory fast wireless charger in my car and it charges my iPhone 6 fairly fast on either one. I checked several times on each charger and heat seems to be minimal and limited mostly to the wireless charger itself. My 2018 Honda Accord Touring wireless charger seems to develop the most heat but it may be due to being closed up in a storage area in the center console. Even so it is not warm to the point that it would cause concern. I've been using it with my company provided Samsung Galaxy S8 for about 10 months and it does the same thing. For those who may have newer wireless charging phones and wireless chargers in their home along with an older smart phone that needs to be plugged in this appears to be a great, inexpensive and convenient addition. I am writing this review in hopes it may help troubleshoot some issues for others. First off, installation was easy and fit well with my case. I have an iPhone SE (released between 6 and 7–essentially and iPhone 6 in the body of a 5). I have a Speck case that is thin but durable. The receiver fit nicely into the case and I looped the cable just a bit to get the plug into the lightening port. It works well with a range of Qi chargers. However, every once in a while it will start to charge then lose the connection with the charger and reset. This can go on every few seconds as it almost seems to cycle. One time it just stopped working all together. When it just stopped working, I plugged the adapter into another older iPhone I had around and it appeared functional. Placed it back on my SE and it worked again. More recently, it would connect to the charger but start the cycle of disconnecting and reconnecting every 10 seconds or so. A soft reset of the iPhone seemed to fix the issue (hold power and home button simultaneously for 10 seconds until you see the phone restart with the Apple logo). This tells me most likely there is a software issue that crops up once in a while and so far not the hardware. Wireless charging is still relatively new and suspect there are still a few kinks to work out. Think of it like a Windows computer that sometimes needs a restart when it locks up. 4 stars because it’s good and works well across at least 4 Qi adapters but requires the occasional nudge. ... show more

Second update- The adapter was not what I expected and the seller worked with me to try to resolve the issue. Since we can not resolve the speed problem, they offered to refund the money and that was a kind gesture. I upgraded my review and added a star as the seller is honest and did all they could to make me happy. Update: the seller sent me a replacement after confirming that the universal adapter was not the correct one. The replacement was exactly the same adapter and it was shipped from a different supply. Charging works very slowly and I would estimate it taking 7 hours to fully charge an iPhone 7 Plus. This QI adapter is very slow to charge. I had this verified at an Apple store as their diagnostics can tell how the charging cycle went and according to them, this trickle charges so low, their software didn’t pick up much of the information. The unit I received had it’s innards exposed as the foil separated and when the seller contact d me, I reported this. They said I must have received a defective unit and asked for information, and a photo and another photo... I don’t have time to keep going back and forth on this and can only say, it’s not what I expected, not what was advertised and even though the seller is responsive, this is still not getting resolved. They need more datails from me in order to pursue it with the manufacturer... Not good! Choose another brand or buy a phone with this feature built in as I tried 7 different brands of QI chargers and this continues to be useless. 12% battery increase in 2 hours is very poor performance... ... show more
