I am a huge tetris fan, and the first puyo puyo tetris title made me fall in love with puyo lore. This title has some updated features that were introduced in puyo champions (such as a battle timeline in replay mode, puzzle mode in tutorials, etc) and it had some free DLC characters added in the past couple months too. I'll be real here, I haven't done a whole lot with Skill mode yet (the new mode in this title), but it seems like it's better than fusion mode LMAO. Overall, the few things I wasn't big on in the first title have been improved, and there's a larger character roster (Ocean Prince is playable!!! AAAAAAAAAAA) as well as some nice quality of life updates. Even if you're new to puyo puyo, this would be a great game to play. It's fun for tetris fans, puyo fans, and fans of cute, silly main stories in games! Highly recommend. ... show more

I'm a Tetris fan from way back, and wanted to find a decent new version to play. I've never played Puyo Puyo before but decided to give it a try. I'm not that great at Puyo Puyo yet, but it's a lot of fun and there's a lot of different ways to play so you don't get bored! Plus, my husband (who doesn't like Tetris) actually enjoys the Puyo Puyo, so I've convinced him to play too! I definitely recommend! ... show more

First off, I am not amazing with tetris, I am good but not as many out there can get. That said I do have a bit of history with the game and have some issues with it. Nothing major but still disappoint. First off, VS mode has the same issues as ever, 4 wide combos being king if you don't know how to counter it, Puyo either destroys with out any chance of a come back from a mid grade tetris player with an equally skilled puyo player, or a good tetris player is going to blow up a Puyo player. This is just normal balance issues, there are people much more in to it to give details. But there was one thing that really disappointed me. Solo arcade is kind of dull. normal games vs CPU is okay. but my biggest disappointment is Marathon mode for tetris. it doesn't have an end point and just gets faster and faster. but quickly realized after about 1800 lines, it isn't getting faster and the lock down was so loose that I could not lose. This game mode would have shined if they took a note out of Akira Tetris like Terror instinct, ampping up the speed and throwing in the quick locks, I was having fun but it became obvious how not hard it was by just letting things get near stacking out, and just building down again, fun, but so little challenge. SO! long and short of it, VS is great, it is a tetris VS game so that isn't a surprise. same issues that the tetris community still has with it, unless i missed an update. but the solo game modes could be improved a lot with the different options out there for tetris. ... show more

The moment I found out about this game, I decided I wanted to get it because, even though it has a major flaw, Puyo Puyo Tetris is a wonderful game. So, naturally, I thought this might be good too. Unfortunately, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 has even more problems than the first game. But, why don't we go over what the game did well first? By themselves, Puyo Puyo and Tetris are fun games as always and of course, this game includes some characters who weren't playable in the first game and many of them are pretty cool. They even brought in a guest character. It's none other than Sonic the Hedgehog. Now let's go over what the game did wrong. First of all, Skill Battles. These aren't much fun because they can end even quicker than a Puyo Puyo game with normal settings. In Story Mode, Skill Battles are extremely easy at first, but they eventually get incredibly difficult and frustrating, especially at the end. Wouldn't you know it, the final battle is a Skill Battle. And it may well be the cheapest final battle I've ever fought. Second, the game's music is noticeably more quiet than that of the first game. And unfortunately, there's no in-game volume control, so unless you go into TV Mode and turn the TV volume real high, you won't be able to hear the music very well. Unfortunately, turning up the TV volume also makes everything else louder and the voices are louder than the music, so it's not such a good idea if you're playing the game and not just listening to the music. Speaking of the music, the selection isn't as good as that of the first Puyo Puyo Tetris. Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 has some good music, but the rest is just...meh. While we're talking about things that should be there, but aren't there, let's bring up the game's biggest flaw. Not only is it a problem in this game, but it's the major flaw of the first game. What these two games should have, but don't have is a difficulty setting for modes outside of Adventure Mode. In both games, characters that are available from the start are generally easy and unlockable characters will generally stomp you flat in seconds. I'd really like to play against characters like Lemres, Squares, and Rafisol, but instead, I'm forced to stick to playing against characters like Arle and Amity just to stand a chance. The only way I can have characters like Squares and Rafisol in a match is if I'm playing as them myself. I do like playing as these characters, but I'd also like to be able to enjoy playing against them. A proper difficulty setting would have made that possible. If there ends up being a Puyo Puyo Tetris 3, I hope they include a proper difficulty setting. There's no way they can make the same mistake three times. Puyo Puyo and Tetris are fun no matter where you go to play them as long as you're playing in the right formats and using decent controllers, but in regards to the Puyo Puyo Tetris games, the first game is better than the second game. The only major problem with the first game is the lack of a proper difficulty setting. Everything else about the game is great. The only reason I play Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 anymore is to play as characters I can't play as in the first game. My favorite character right now is Squares. He looks cool, his battle quotes are cool, and I love the way Squares delivers his lines. Props to the voice actor. ... show more
