Great cue for the money! You can pay more, but the purex will play as good as any other cue on the market. I ordered exactly as described, The sounds it makes when striking cue ball with English is better than my old Joss. It just makes a solid sound, and not hollow or other odd sounds. The tip is amazing, and likely the most expensive tip on the market costing like $30.00. Cue came without any dents unlike one I bought months ago that had a dent in the shaft. The grip is nice as you can feel it, where the threaded grip you cant really feel, it's a nice rubbery grip totally different from other cues. The cue has a slightly narrow shaft than beginner shafts, so that is why it may not be good for beginners, and may want to research this thought. Maybe able to call the company and have a larger shaft, like a 13 MM. this one is more a professional size shaft, I believe. It has upped my game, which is almost hard to believe, but it did. This cue is one of my top 10 purchases on Amazon.

I have been playing with the same 12mm 21oz cue for many years, and thought I played pretty good with it too, until I bought this HXTC14. My game immediately improved. Maybe it's the low deflection shaft Pure-X brags about, I don't know. What I do know is I love the stick's balance, and I expecially love the pro taper 11.75mm shaft. Bottom line, I am VERY happy with this cue, and look forward to using it for years to come! Note: If you want the cue to be 21oz (like I did), don't just order the cue straight from the Amazon warehouse (like I did). Although it does have a removable weight bolt, you will have a hard time finding a bolt heavy enough to take it from 19oz to 21oz. Contact the seller first (ProGear) and they will make sure you get the weight you want. Absolutely the best customer service I've dealt with in many years!

The craftsmanship of the cue is very well down. The grip really gives you the control and doesn't slip in your hand at all. The soft layered tip gives superb control over the cue ball and the low deflection gives you a true shot. Mine did come in as a 20oz and does have a removable weight which is a great feature. I would recommend this cue to anyone that is looking to step up from the novice to intermediate level.
