Scouring pad part wore down and fell apart, off the sponge part. This happened in a quarter of the time of a regular sponge and half the time of a greener natural fiber sponge. I happened to have bought a bunch of just the walnut scouring pads so I kinda hold the scouring part on top of the old sponge that still has a good number of uses left, and use the make shift combo that way to extend the life of the sponge. I like the sponge but will probably have to go back to the recycled type — the greener natural fiber one. ... show more

We just started on our last sponge from this pack and I see that I ordered them 8 months ago. So they must be pretty good! The sponge itself is very durable. As others have noted, it is a bit stiff but I have not found it to be a problem when washing dishes. I think the density is what makes it so durable. In fact, the sponge still looks practically brand new after we have worn the scrubber side to shreds. The best feature is that these really do not develop an odor. I am very sensitive to smell and married to someone who apparently does not believe in squeezing the water out of the sponge when he is done (what is this? Is he saving the soap? 20 yeas and I have not solved this mystery!). So you can imagine how quickly we went through sponges. I used another popular brand with odor-free "technology" with pretty good results, but I prefer Pura's chemical-free solution instead. ... show more

    • Great Idea! Execution Definitely Needs Work. Item Falls Apart After Few Uses. Too Expensive As-Is.
Bottom line: I won't buy again. I love that they don't mildew and smell like standard sponges. The scrubby part is good for the first few uses, then begins to shred and fall apart, coming away from sponge. If it came off intact, I'd consider using hot glue so that I could continue to use the item for its intended use and get my money's worth. Sadly, it shreds/unravels so that's not possible. What's left is a very expensive sponge without scrubbing capability. Bottom line: I won't buy this product again in it's current incarnation. If they can fix the issue, I'd buy again. ... show more

Love these sponges. I have been using them for a month, and there is absolutely no odor. I almost didn't order them because some of the negative reviews stated that they are stiff, but like any sponge, it takes a little use for them to soften up. They're perfectly fine. They are NOT meant for wiping spills because they don't really absorb, and the company explained all this in an email they sent after my purchase. They work well for scrubbing and washing (great for dishes). I usually keep two sponges by my kitchen sink...one for washing dishes, and one for wiping up spills. The one I used for dish washing would always get smelly while the wiping sponge never did. I think it has to do with the soap in the washing sponge...that seems to be what generates the bacteria which causes the smell. In any case, with these sponges there is ZERO odor, so problem solved. I must say though that upon opening the package the sponges smelled terrible...like fish! After a couple of uses the odor disappeared never to return, so don't worry if they smell terrible right out of the package. Highly recommend. I do have to add though that I only use the darker scrubber side and that holds up very well. The lighter softer side is that nylon type material, so I think it will tear and break apart much more easily if used for scrubbing. *****update***** It's been almost 9 weeks since I wrote this review, and I'm still using the SAME sponge in my kitchen sink. Still no odor at all. Looks a little ragged, but no need to throw it out yet! ... show more

    • Good for select cleaning tasks
These have a place within the inventory of cleaning products but they don't replace a sponge with the green type of abrasive pad. The abrasive pad is roughly equivalent with the white name brand/plastic pad and that makes them useful for polishing items where you don't want to mar the finish, such as removing bugs from the windshield or cleaning food from a stainless steel appliance. While the sponges don't retain water, and that does keep them stink free, they don't absorb as much water either so a wipe will leave a film of water on the counter. ... show more

I've been using this sponge for couple of weeks now. I specifically avoid using dishwasher bec I wanted to TEST this sponge. Unlike the regular sponges out there in the market; this one DO NOT SMELL or stain at all. The brown part/rough side of the sponge is kinda wearing out though, but the beige or the soft side stays the same. Even though this sponges are PRICEY, I would definitely recommend this product. ... show more

OMG why are you out? Please get these back in soon!!! I love them they are the only ones that do not get that horrible mold smell here in Hawaii. They clean really well. Some reviews said they don't hold soap or water but what you have to do is wet it put soap on it then wash what your item without running it under water while you're washing. LOVE THESE!!! ... show more

I have a mixed feeling about these sponges. When I first opened the bag, they smelled so weird. They bothered me so much I almost returned them. But I decided to use a couple to see if the weird smell goes away. And it did after a week or so. They clean really well and I have sparkling clean dishes and glasses. Just as other reviewers said, my kitchen is free of stinky sponge. However after about a few days, the top started coming off. I really love how they clean but am not sure if I could recommend it. Now a month later, all the sponges I have used have top coming off and if durability is important to you, I would say skip this product. ... show more
