These are fantastic shoes with a very wide toe box, perfect for my EE feet. I'm normally a ladies 11 so the size 10 worked great for me. I was even able to put my Good Feet inserts underneath the inserts. My first time wearing these I did a very intense paddle race that involved a lot of muck and climbing over and under trees. I have been wearing these shoes daily for the last three weeks while on vacation and couldn't be more pleased. By smart watch, I have put well over one hundred miles (not counting thousands of feet elevation changes) while on many flights of steep stone city stairs, cobblestone streets, wading on gravel beaches, hiking on prepared and rustic paths. They fit, are very light weight, have excellent foot beds, gum sole's that grip and I trully feel barefoot. This is the fourth pair of water shoes I have purchased in the past 2 years. First couple of pairs were flimsy and not really comfortable. Last pair said wide feet but were tight and a pain to slip on. These fit perfect, easy to slip on and and made for a wide foot, They are well built and lightweight. This is my 2nd pair of pulltop shoes. I absolutely love these things and have recommended them to several coworkers, family and friends. I also have the more "heydude style" pair that I wear at work. (6mo of 10 hr everyday wear on a concrete mfg floor, they have held up flawlessly, look great and are just now showing signs of wear on the pressure points of the outer sole from my foot). This water shoe version is equally as comfortable as the other pair. Ive worn these pulltop water shoes; kayaking and to the lake and just as a an everyday driver and they work awesome. I have the hey dude brand water shoes and have to say, pulltop is far better. The insole is like a yoga mat material that repels water and doesnt soak it up like the insoles of Heydudes. I forget that im wearing my pulltops most of the time. Plenty of toe space to allow your foot to appropriately splay out. With just enough cushion in the heel that you dont feel every single single pebble on the ground. The water shedding ability is fantastic and the shoe dries out fairly quickly so your toes and feet dont get super prune-y if you have errands to run after spending an afternoon in the water. These are fantastic. Perfect fit with my wide feet and high arches/insteps. Great grips and pretty quick to dry, and they look decent too. Rough around ankle, blisters. Insoles have small drainage/ breather holes that collect small stones that make the walk uncomfortable, and you need a toothpick to poke out the stones. Decent look, poor execution. Update-after wearing a 4th time, this is overall the most uncomfortable water shoe I have ever worn. I would return if not just outside the window. ... show more

    • Good with socks, but not barefoot

I picked these up for a trip to Costa Rica where I would need closed toed shoes for some water activities. The wide fit is awesome for my feet (usually a standard wide is not wide enough for me). The stretchy elastic laces are relatively easy to shorten if you don’t need the length (carefully pop the plastic pieces off, test max desired length, cut laces, slightly melt the ends to prevent fraying, and reinstall the plastic pieces). The concept of an optional insole is interesting. These shoes are kind of a hybrid multi use shoe. You can take the insole out and wear them barefoot or you can have the insole in and wear them with socks (or any other combination of those options). I think I like the elastic lace design. They are easy to take on and off but remain secure when tightened down. They worked great for water activities with a pair of lightweight wool socks (the socks do retain water though making them heavy and sloshy). With or without socks, the shoes have a tendency to trap sand and small debris (rocks, shells, etc) which can be rather uncomfortable (especially with bare feet). I tried them barefoot with the insoles for a long walk along the beach and did not get very far until they had worn a sore on the back of one of my foot (on my Achilles tendon) and I had to stop and put socks on. They do not seem to have the same wet-suit type material that some other water shoes have that I would assume helps prevent hotspots in the absence of socks and presence of water (potentially a bad combo for lots of walking). Despite being very lightweight, they did seem to take awhile to dry. In the humid weather of Costa Rica, they would be wet for several days after use (unless I left them in the sun to speed up drying). So I would say if you are looking to do a lot of walking barefoot, these might not be the best. I saw a lot of people using various Teva shoes/sandals and Chaco style sandals for barefoot water activities during my trip. If you plan to wear them with socks, or barefoot for short periods of limited activity, I think these are great! They drain water pretty well and I imagine they are very cool and well ventilated in dry environments. ... show more
