Proraso Shaving Soap

Founded in 1908 by Ludovico Martelli, Proraso has been innovating professional highest-quality products in the shaving world for generations, and has evolved to become a staple of Italian culture. From the first Pre-Shave cream in 1948, to now, the Martelli family principles hold true: to create professional, quality products that deliver a pleasurable and impeccable shave, in the barbershop and at home. How to use: Soak your Proraso brush in a bowl or cup filled with hot water for a few minutes before your shave. Apply a warm, damp towel to your face (or splash face with warm water) to prep your face for shaving, then apply your favorite Proraso Pre-Shave Cream. Apply another hot towel to your face for a few seconds. After the brush has soaked, gently squeeze out excess water, still leaving the brush mostly wet. Apply the brush to the soap in fast, repeated circular motions to coat the brush bristles well. Spread on your beard and proceed with shaving. Close the lid after use to keep the soap from drying out (though, even if it does dry out, it will not lose its efficacy or beneficial properties when reused). Shave and rinse face thoroughly. For an optimal experience, finish with another application of your warm, damp towel, followed by your favorite Proraso After Shave Balm or Lotion. Short on time? Apply your favorite Proraso Pre-Shave Cream to your damp face (for optimal results). To build up a rich lather, run your shaving brush under hot water for about 30 seconds, if you don't have time to soak it. Apply the brush to the soap in fast, repeated circular motions to coat the brush bristles well. Spread on your beard, shave and rinse, following with your favorite Proraso After Shave Balm or Lotion. Close the lid after use to keep the soap from drying out (though, even if it does dry out, it will not lose its efficacy or beneficial properties when reused). You'll notice that our soap may take a bit more water than you're used to, in order to achieve the ideal lather. That's actually one of our biggest points of difference -- the result of its manufacturing process -- and what makes Proraso soap so special. Because it has a much lower moisture content than other shave soaps, you’ll need more water on your shaving brush (we'd suggest soaking it for a few minutes prior to lathering), and perhaps just a touch more patience at first, to achieve that signature Proraso lather: rich, dense, elastic, and one that doesn’t dry out. Once you do, you’ll really see the difference (and why it’s become such a staple of shaving culture over the last 6 decades). Your skin is at its softest and most relaxed just after you wake up, so the razor glides easier. It softens and straightens the hairs, making it easier to apply the shaving cream to your beard and pre-conditions the skin. Just like traditional barbers do. Otherwise, shave after your morning shower when the skin is soft and hydrated from the warm water. Applying shaving cream or soap with a brush increases the volume of your beard hair and allows for a closer shave. To build up a rich lather, wet your shaving brush and apply the cream in fast, repeated circular motions to coat the brush bristles well. Don't put too much pressure on the razor and follow the lines of your face, always keeping the skin pulled tight. Rinse the blade with hot water at least once every two swipes of the razor. Residue from past shaves can reduce the blades' effectiveness and increase the risk of damaging your skin. Also, remember to change your razor often. Lather your face a second time and repeat the shave. Rinse your face well and repeatedly to remove any residue. Even if you've shaved to perfection, your skin may still feel stressed and will need to be disinfected, restored and softened.
