I am very impressed with this torch. It is far superior to the ones I have used recently. After my old reliable died earlier this year, I purchased two more, one died within a few weeks and the other in a few days. These new versions had more plastic, felt cheaper, and rattled when tilted. This torch, however, is a beast. The flame control is fully controllable from barely burning to blow torch. It's easy to light. It is much easier than I expected to lock after igniting. The torch is heavy yet well balanced. While some safety features are necessary, most safety features are irritating to making the product next to unusable. The only criticism is that the igniter button is plastic. The rest is steel and brass with a sturdy base that easily and tightly fits onto the propane bottle. The plastic button might somehow be necessary, the internal piezoelectric arrangement perhaps, but I very nearly knocked off a star for the plastic igniter button. Though, it feels and sounds more than serviceable; longevity remains in question. 4.51+ Stars. ... show more

I had my Benzomatic one stop working so I decided to give this one a try. It works identical to my previous torch head but at a reduced cost. Time will tell if it holds up. I don't braze or sweat pipes very often. It is typically used as a fire starter and for that it works well. The flame is very close if not identical to the Benzomatic so using it for its intended purpose should not be an issue. ... show more
