I got everything I needed to melt hundreds of aluminum cans into ingots. It took some acrobatics to safely pour the molten metal, but it does warn you to wear protection. It is very loud, so I suggest putting it somewhere people can put up with the noise. In all, I highly recommend the proper gloves and a larger ingot mould. A long steel spoon or ladle to pull the dross out before and after pours helps. I used kosher salt for flux as I was pouring only aluminum; it does help. ... show more

I've been eyeing making a homemade one of these but got lazy and never did, had the chance to snag this and get it and took it. So happy I did, I've never used one before, but have used a forge so some knowledge of the gas system. It wasn't fully set up but enough it didn't take a lot of time to put together (pot onto base and gas hooked up) to start melting things down. I mainly wanted to melt soda cans down as I have an unhealthy relationship with carbonated drinks and this is more fun (pyro) than throwing them in the bin to recycle. Yes it's not as fast and requires more steps but as soon as I get started sand casting I'm going to really have a lot of fun, plus I can remelt the already made bars back down at that point. ... show more

This has pretty much everything you need to start up melting metal. I have used it with aluminum so far and it works. Great, can't wait to move on to stronger metals that I think aluminum is a great medium to begin with. Keep in mind this is not a toy. Very dangerous to operateight.
