Ever hear the expression "you get what you pay for"? It isn't always true, but with this product I think it actually is. These sheets aren't cheap. That isn't to say they're unfairly priced, to the contrary from what I can tell they actually seem to be quite reasonable for what you're getting, but they sure aren't cheap. Silk is a luxury good, whether it's in clothing, curtains, or sheets. It's a natural fiber that's secreted from a worm's butt that's unusually soft and strong, but the worms need certain environments and food to do their thing and harvesting the fibers is labor intensive. So it's nice but pricey, but if you're looking to sleep on a cloud every night it's one of your best options to consider. On top of price you also need to consider the silk type, grading, and density. Silk type is fairly straight forward. A product is either silk from silk worms that feed on Mulberry leaves or it's wholly or partially a mixture of Eri, Muga, or Tussar silk. Mulberry silk is the type most often desired for textiles because of its even softness and very long fiber length. Although Mulberry silk can be produced in a number of places, 82% of the worlds production comes from China where the industry has deep, long roots. There are supposedly ways to tell the difference between 100% Mulberry and mixtures that you can find on the internet, but I have no idea if those methods are accurate so I just trust that if the product is advertised as 100% Mulberry and the company has been around for a few years without being forced to change their claims then it's probably accurate. But maybe the best way to tell is just to feel the silk. Mulberry silk has a cool, slippery feeling kind of like water flowing over your skin and is very, very smooth. Then there's grading. Like anything organic, silk comes in a variety of qualities. Silk types go all the way from A down to F, with each lower grade being shorter fiber lengths that result in clumpier, less smooth silk. Type A silk has the longest fibers, which allow for the highest quality textiles, and the quality of the fibers range from 2 to 6. 6A silk, which is about 2% of total silk output, is the highest zero-compromises quality of silk and naturally has the highest price. Finally there's the density. Most people are probably familiar with thread count, which applies to cotton textiles. A higher thread count translates into smoother, silkier fabrics, and again higher prices. Because of differences in the materials, silk can't really have a thread count. Instead it has momme, which is a measure of the weight, and hence thickness, of the silk strands. Things like silk scarves have a very light momme of something like 10, which gives it a very light airy feel but doesn't make it very durable. So generally a higher momme is better because it's a thicker, more durable fabric, but there are limits. You wouldn't want 30 momme sheets because they'd be too thick and heavy. For bedding 20-25 momme is considered preferable. Silk isn't the only option when it comes to soft, luxury bedding. There are very nice 1200 thread count cotton sheets that feel amazing, and synthetic fabrics that are just as smooth and slippery as silk. But having said that, there's a reason that even when describing high quality cotton fabric people describe it as "silky". Silk is just the standard everything gets compared to when it comes to soft, comfortable textiles. As for synthetics, although they can be as smooth as silk they don't breathe as well, aren't as nice for your skin, nor as hypoallergenic. It's a fact that as you get older your body needs some pampering to help you get a good nights sleep and as far as I'm concerned this is a very reasonable investment towards feeling rested every day. The bottom line is if you are looking to treat yourself, don't mind the increased care required to clean and maintain them, and have the room in your budget, these sheets feel incredible.

Edit Jan 12, 2026 This is an update again on my Promeed 23 Momme Silk Sheets. I have used them every day (other than when I was on vacations, of course) for 4 years. I miss my silk sheets when I travel. I self-clean the washer before I wash them to remove old soap residue. I continue with the same washing & air drying for care. The only wear I have is that their logo is faded. If I ever need new sheets I will buy from Promeed again unless there is an unbeatable promotion. When sheets come up in conversation, I am happy to recommend this company. *I recently bought 2 "mulberry silk" body pillowcases on an unbelievable promotion. The care tags even said 100% mulberry silk. I cut small pieces out of the inseams & did the burn test on both. They both melted. They are polyester. I got my money back. :-/ I could have reported those 2 companies to my State Attorney General. I probably should have. Edit Jan 11, 2023. Just an update to my review. I have had my Promeed sheets for about a year. I am very happy with them. I wash them on gentle with a special designed-for-silk laundry soap in cold water. I hang them to dry over doors or my shower-curtain rod. They dry in a few hours. Theses sheets are amazing. I am happy that I took a chance with this company. I am revising my review. Promeed has been an excellent company to work with. When I wrote my original review, I didn't realize that everyone does not tuck their top sheet under the bottom of their mattress. I didn't understand why they would make a sheet that is too short to tuck in. They didn't realize that some people tuck their top sheet in. They made me a new top sheet that is longer once they understood why I wasn't pleased! They were under no obligation to do so. Their product was exactly as described. I plan to purchase more products from this company in the future. Old review: The top sheet is a too short to tuck in on my twin XL deep mattress. It doesn't have the traditional wider hem at the top, just a narrow hem all around. I machine washed on gentle cycle, cold water with a silk-specific laundry soap. I hung them to dry with the bathroom fan running. It takes a couple of hours for them to dry completely. The zipper on the pillowcases should be an inch longer on each side. It is difficult to put the pillow in & to remove the pillow. I am told that this is the longest zipper available on silk pillowcases. I am concerned that the zipper won't last, but my concern may be unfounded. They also have an envelope-style pillowcase available. The bottom sheet is generous in size & fits perfectly. All things considered, I love the feel of the sheets. I switched to silk sheets because of extremely dry skin. These sheets feel amazing. My skin is not as dry, my hair isn't matting as much. I hope that these sheets will last me several years. I plan to buy a higher momme sheet the next time around. I was surprised at how thin they are compared to my cotton sheets that I have always used. I have no doubt that they are the correct momme as advertised. They are smooth & shiny on one side, and a matte finish on the other side. That is correct for silk sheets. They have been corresponding with me about my review. I have every confidence that they will work with me to resolve my concerns.

I purchased this bedsheet set based on the description, with the clear expectation that it would include four pieces – specifically, the fitted sheet, the flat sheet, and the two matching pillowcases (the 'set of pillow shams'). Unfortunately, upon receiving the package, only two pieces were present: the fitted sheet and the flat sheet. The pillowcases were missing entirely. This was not the only issue. The colour was also incorrect. I explicitly ordered the 'Champagne' variant, yet what arrived was a bright 'Hot Pink' (or 'Fuchsia'), which is completely unsuitable. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the quality is severely lacking. The stitching is poor, and the fabric itself is of disappointing construction. It is only 'silky' on one side; the reverse side is noticeably rougher. When using the sheet, the part of the fabric touching the body is unpleasantly abrasive. At the time of purchase, I attempted to contact the seller's support and communicated with the shop, but they were entirely unhelpful and essentially strung me along ('they gave me the run-around'). This has been a disastrous experience. Poor product, poor customer support, and considering the price charged, I feel this is nothing short of a complete deception ('a total rip-off'). To make matters worse, I had the product delivered to my sister's house in Miami and then brought it, still packaged, back with me to Brazil. Because I didn't notice all these serious problems until later, I am now unable to return the item. I strongly advise against buying this product.
