  • Great gift
Style: Lip Balm Lab
Got this for my niece and she loved it. She instantly wanted to make all the colors and turned everything into pretty lip gloss as fast as I could melt stuff down

  • If you have ever bought a kit like this before, you know this is junk before you even receive it.
Style: Lip Balm Lab
These kits don’t work. All parents know this, but they market them to kids and kids don’t know that it is junk. Was my daughter excited about getting this? Yes. Was she totally disappointed and disinterested after opening it? Yes. I warned her that it would be junk. These kits usually are. Not only is this junk, but it actually has you melt wax cubes in the world’s smallest cup by placing it in BOILING water and using the world’s smallest spatula to stir it. Really??? What child could do this? None. Which is why I ended up over a bowl on the stove (after trying the microwave and failing) with wax all over my hands. The project says it will make 5 tubes of lip balm, but we had to use twice as much as recommended in order to fill one tube. It wasn’t worth the money and I will trust my gut next time. ... show more

  • Get a different kit
Style: Lip Balm Lab
I bought this as an activity for my almost-4-year-old to do during quarantine. I had made lip balm a few times a ling time ago, but this was the most aggregating lip balm experience. First, the kit was completely missing the wax beads. I’m pretty sure they simply forgot to put them in. Fortunately, instead of starting with oil and wax (which is what makes sense for kids trying to learn how lip balm is made), the kit gives a waxy lip balm base that you’re supposed to add more wax to. I decided to press forward because my son was already excited about making lip balm and I didn’t want to disappoint him. In addition to not being able to properly firm up the lip balm, this reduced the total volume to only 2-3 lip tubes. Then the base wouldn’t melt. At all. I tried the boiling water technique. (Who thinks kids should hold things in boiling water??? I didn’t let my kid do that part.) After 10 minutes, I gave up and stuck it in the microwave. 30 seconds. 10 more. 10 more. 10 more. I was worried about melting the little plastic cup at that point, so I just had my kid mix in the strawberry flavoring and I started scraping it into the tube. It’s a royal pain to fill the tubes when you aren’t using liquid. I honestly don’t know how filled it is, because the label covers the side. The only reason this got 2 stars instead of 1 is that my kid thinks he made lip balm and we have a tube of artificial strawberry goop that kind of counts as lip balm now. ... show more

  • Pretty easy, comes with nice coloring/flavoring colors and scents
Style: Lip Balm Lab
Pretty easy, comes with nice coloring/flavoring colors and scents. The only down side is your gonna need to have a parent or older person to help with the boiling water and to hold the measuring cup down with out burning your hand. My twelve year old daughter loves it! :D

  • Made some very acceptable lip gloss with this.
Style: Lip Balm Lab
Too hard for 6 year olds, but love the lip gloss my granddaughter and I made. Filled up 4 of the tubes with some of the base and one tube left over. Overall very happy with the product.
