One thing to know is that the paddles have a protective film on them, so at first I thought they were super cheap and plasticky, but I peeled the film and they were softer and stickier. These paddles are on the more expensive side, but the reviews led me to believe they would be great. The first time my daughter and I played (we are not competitive players, but very good amateurs), we thought they were dull and "squishy," because of their thick rubber surfaces. We both thought we had to hit the ball really hard just to get them over the net, never mind to hit a winning edge shot. I immediately ordered four old-school, cheap paddles and we found we are enjoying playing with them so much more. They are crisp and springy and offer much more control. This may be because professional play has changed and players at this level are going for a different feel, but, for the rest of us, don't waste your money on the most expensive paddles. ... show more

We've only used the paddles once so I can't comment on their durability yet. Aside from that, the paddles seem well made and were nicely packaged. Assuming the durability hold up, I would up the rating to five stars. Additional info: I hold the paddle fairly high on the handle. I've noticed the wooden, curved pieces between the handle and the hitting surface have fairly sharp edges. I'm going to sand mine down to a slightly rounded surface. ... show more

They were a gift for my grandchildren - ages 14-17. They use them constantly and when I ask they rave about the quality of them. "Still just like new after over 100 games" they claim. I wouldn't know - I don't dare play them. Glad I bought them... I would again.

The wood handles are decent quality. The adhesive that holds the rubber is not so good. In less than 3 weeks of light use, several of the paddles ordered have started peeling. Wish they had better quality adhesive because I don't believe they will last a whole year. Update: the seller promptly sent me two new sets of paddles. Hopefully these were inspected by quality control and will last. Customer service was great and the folks were pleasant to deal with through the process. ... show more
