This thing worked like a champ for me. I have two high peaks on my roof and I was able to slide the clips under the shingles and up my my light strings. I thought it would be much harder than it was. Now it does require a bit of patience and a few "tries" to get them in the right place but all in all it's a much better option than trying to climb up on my roof. Great product! Only minor quibble I have is that the last segment of the pole doesn't "tighten" down as much as I would like but very happy I bought this. ... show more

So I purchased this in late 2021 to use exclusively for holiday lighting. I immediately put it to use and it sure made installing lights a breeze and not to mention much safer as I didn’t have to hang off my ladder like Spider-Man. I used it in 2022 for the 2nd time and all went smoothly. Fast forward to winter 2023 and I was all setup to put my lights up and I squeeze the trigger to release the bracket and SNAP. I heard something break followed by what sounded like a spring unwinding inside. I’m an engineer so I know what that sounds like. I opened up the unit to try and salvage my afternoon and the steel wire that connects to the clip at the end of the pole broke free. I was hoping that I could remove the plastic clip and try to reattach it but it is securely glued and swaged onto the end of the metal pole. If I was to try to remove it I’d break it for sure. So literally 2 uses and on the 3rd try it breaks. Sounds like a definite weak point and poor design if you ask me. But what do I know….i only test products for a living. Since this the only one of its kind I purchased a 2nd one hoping that they have improved things and will resume my holiday lighting experience when it arrives in a few days. ... show more

    • Did the job - Finally got my christmas lights!

I have lived in my current home for 4 years, and have desperately wanted house lights for Christmas but with a rock yard and fear of ladders I was unable to do so. Quote from someone local to install and take down basic lights was over $1200, unfortunately way out of my budget. I found this product and decided to give it a shot. I didn't like the idea of trying to shove the clips under shingles, so I went with the option to clip them onto the eaves of the house. I had some trouble because my eaves are thin and the clips wouldn't hold, but after a quick google search about the problem I tried the solution of softening the clips with a heat gun and applying pressure while they cool to make them smaller - and it worked like a charm! A little trial and error to find the best method of application, but once I had the lights up they stayed put all season even through some pretty nasty winds when I was afraid I would come home and find them all on the ground. Removal was simple, although I will likely have to re-heat and tighten the clips again before the next use. I would give 5* if the clips were more universally standard and I didn't have to find a way to alter them in order to make it work. ... show more

I absolutely hate going up and down on ladders. With that being said, this pole with the hooks saves me with putting up christmas lights on the house. Without the use of the pole my house looked like scrooge was a permanent resident with no lights year after year. Everyone around me would put up lights and my house was the sad unlit black hole. This year we are kicking the grinch out and no longer going to be the sad black hole. This pole extends to the highest reach possible for me to put lights up at the highest point of the roof. With NO LADDER! Getting the clips in the end was basically the hardest part and that was easy peasy. The clips fit on the wood part of the roof or clips on the gutter whichever you need to use. It was easy to clip the lights and push the clips on the eve. The pole is light and easy to use with a trigger to release the clip once you have it in place. Having the other head helped when I needed to pull a clip off or grab the sting of lights to separate them. I completely recommend this pole for those who like to stay grounded but need to put lights up for Christmas. ... show more

This tool is a little tricky to use. I pre-place the clips on the string of lights and lay it out in front of the house, parallel to the gutter. The first clip is easy to snap onto the gutter, but then you have to maneuver the clip into the right position with the grabby end of the pole, and when it’s just right, push against the house to snap the clip into the grabby mechanism. Then you can snap it on the gutter and release with the trigger. It’s a little frustrating, but for me its easier than using a ladder or climbing on the roof. The problem though is the quality of the the product. It worked okay for most of what I needed in November 2019 (so, like 250 feet if lights, which is pretty minimal). This year, I needed to lubricate the grabber because is was rubbing and difficult to open. Then it worked for about 25 feet (12 clips) and then the trigger mechanism stopped working altogether. I can tell the internal mechanism is still moving when I pull the trigger, but it stopped interfacing with the removable grabber end. The pole is also stuck at about half its possible length. So now it’s basically useless. Except for maybe whacking a piñata. They should price the pole at $20 and market it as “disposable” because it barely lasts through a single season. ... show more
