  • Solid steel deck board bender that takes almost no effort — pins adjust for your joist width
Item Shape: Circular/Bar Number of Items: 1
This is a stupid simple tool and it works exactly as it should. Five stars. The quality is the first thing you notice picking it up. It's solid steel throughout — the lever arm, the cam, and the two knurled grab pins are all real metal with no cast pot-metal shortcuts, and the powder coating is thick and evenly applied rather than the thin flash coat you see on cheap import tools. Nothing on it flexes or feels like it'll be the first thing to give. Installation is about as simple as a tool gets. The two steel grab pins move between a narrow and a wide position depending on your joist width, and you just set them where you need them and go. On a standard deck frame built out of 2 inch lumber the narrow position was the right one, and the wider setting is there when your framing calls for it. Ease of use is where it earns its money. You hook the pins over the joist, set the cam against the board, and push the lever. It's so easy that I barely felt any resistance in the handle — the cam and lever geometry do the work, and a board that would have taken a pry bar, a scrap block and some cursing just moves into place. Alignment is the whole point of the tool, and it delivers. Crowned or bowed deck boards pull straight and hold there while you drive your fasteners, which means consistent gaps and straight runs instead of the wandering seams you get fighting boards by hand. Durability looks good given the construction. Solid steel components and a heavy powder coat are the right recipe for something that lives in a truck bed or a tool bucket and gets used outdoors, and there's nothing here I'd expect to wear out or bend. For value for money, around $37 is fair for a solid steel tool that turns a two-person job into a one-person job. If you're laying more than a few boards, it pays for itself in time and frustration on the first deck. ... show more

  • Upgraded Near-Failure-Proof Hardware That Protects Boards And Simplifies Solo Builds
Item Shape: Circular/Bar Number of Items: 1
Pro Deck Board Straightening Tool Bending Straightener for Composite Board Upgraded Decking Lever Bender, Heavy-Duty Thickened Carbon Steel, Straighten Deck Wrench Decking Installation Tool INITIAL RATING: 5⭐️ RATING LEGEND: 5⭐️ Let’sGo!! 4⭐️ Very good, I like it 3⭐️ Good, functions as advertised. 2⭐️ OK’ish, Uncertainty lingers 1⭐️ Definite No 4 Me VINE REVIEW SUMMARY: This upgraded carbon steel board straightener punches above its weight class. It successfully overcame common category failures, by utilizing reinforced metal joist cylinders, a secure knurled grip, and a non-marring roller disc to deliver reliable solo-leverage without slipping or damaging composite or treated boards. As far as weaknesses against its highest rated competitor(Camo Tool): 1. these rollers will catch the overlaps of butyl tape on joists 2. It is far heavier than aluminum-this could wear on you for a large project 3. The outside roller has far fewer adjust points than is helpful compared to Camo INITIAL FIT: I used this tool for a small backyard decking project where a few stubborn, 12ft, warped boards refused to line up with the rest of the layout. It fit smoothly over standard framing joists, allowing me to handle the alignment entirely by myself without needing or waiting for a second set of hands to magically appear. It was not forgiving on the butyl tape top of joist wrap. That was frustrating to me INITIAL FUNCTIONALITY: The leverage action is direct and effective, pulling bowed boards straight and holding them tightly against the framing so you can drive screws with ease(less tension + effort). This design IMHO completely eliminates the slipping and popping issues seen in older models. It’s achieved by the adjustable leg configuration that accommodates varying joist sizes, paired with a heavily textured knurled metal surface on the stops (that locks down firmly-positive if no butyl tape/negative if there is). INITIAL PRICE: $36.99 Priced around thirty-seven dollars, this tool sits right in line with peer options like heavy-duty lever benders from Lowe's and Home Depot, reflecting standard market value for carbon-steel framing hardware. It’s $60 less than Camo which is a far and away superior tool; and especially if using Butyl Tape. INITIAL QUALITY: The frame is forged from heavy-duty thickened carbon steel that handles high-torque bending forces without flexing or twisting under load. It directly addresses common category weak spots by reinforcing the connection points around the adjustable joist stop cylinders to prevent snapping under high pressure. Additionally, the solid metal roller disc is well-machined, distributing pressure smoothly across the board edge to ensure it never dents, scratches, or scuffs the fragile outer cap of high-end composite lumber. It could use more roller adjust points imho VALUE FOR THE MONEY: Upgraded Near-Failure-Proof Hardware That Protects Boards And Simplifies Solo Builds ~PRODUCT LISTING OVERVIEW~ ~[Unmatched Strength: Upgraded Thickened Steel】 Engineered for professionals and serious DIYers, this deck board straightener is crafted from premium, high-density carbon steel. • Does not do the work properly

Bad idea to get this not strong hold at all if is for something small and simple maybe is good but not for decking plank

  • Such a simple lever, such an important job
Item Shape: Circular/Bar Number of Items: 1
There are several types of board straighteners, and this one works by leveraging the floor joist to pull the deck board in to place so that it can secured. While the process is straight forward, it does have it's limits. It support 2"" wide joists, but you need room to get into place. So make sure you save the straight boards for the last few rows. And it may seem to be heavy gauge steel, you won't be straightening out a 2""x6"" plank. This is meant for the thinner deck boards, maybe up to 3/4"" thick, and probably 4"" wide. Assembly is easy and the use is almost self explanatory. After the first use you'll be a pro. But you may find you're not as strong as you thought, be sure you grip the end of the handle for the best leverage. You will find a multitude of other tools like this, and most have the same ratings and comments, and the prices are pretty much on par with this one. So you really can't go wrong. Ideally a 4.5 but nothing to drop a 4 on this. ... show more

  • Contractor Approved, BUT….
Item Shape: Circular/Bar Number of Items: 1
I am a Contractor and Business Owner and I have owned, lost and broke all types of board bending tools through the years. First and foremost for what this is I would like to see the price more inline with the actual “value” of the item. This is not a “top shelf” or “super heavy duty” option. However, it will take some pressure and it does put out the expected leverage of a board bender of this caliber. I would like to see the handle made of a thicker steel bar stock but none of this is a deal breaker. It does what it needs to do and I use these as an extra set of hands while working alone as well as a board bender. This one gets “shaky” with a ton of leverage on longer boards. I’m talking about 5/4”x6 decking and composite. This is NOT FOR 2X4 STOCK BENDING. I do know there are DIYers out there that “build their own decks” and use the improper materials in the wrong places, like 2”x4” stock for flooring instead of 5/4”x6” decking boards. If that is being done, I can absolutely see why someone would be unhappy with this tool's performance. With proper decking boards and composite this works just fine and even with longer boards it just takes a little “umph” to get it done. Not a big deal. Par for the course and par for the job/work. I would order this again and I’m happy enough with it to recommend it to others. Any tone of “negativity” in my feelings about it based on viewing the "perceived value” of the item for me personally vs. competitive options on the marketplace and easily found in big box stores or supply houses. Overall, if you are looking for the “wheel type” board bender and even if you are a pro just looking to add additional units to your toolbox then this one will do the work and be able to hang even if it is not the “top shelf” brand, design, build or style. This one works fine and even with the way I beat on tools I do not see it breaking or bending if used appropriately. ... show more

  • This is a must buy when working on a deck
Item Shape: Circular/Bar Number of Items: 1
I needed one of these years ago, and its worth every penny! I've set my share of deck boards, and with most boards being a little less than perfectly strait, keeping the alignment during installation can be tedious. This simple tool is so easy to use, you set the bottom bracket over you board with the rotating wheel near the board, then rotate the handle to push the board up against the prior board, or into the starter row of fasteners. I don't know how, however it stays up when you let go of the handle, freeing your hands to insert the fasteners before moving the tool to the next joist to hold the next area of the board strait & tight. The tool itself is made of fairly heavy gauge steel, the wheel is sturdy plastic, and feels quite durable. I can't imagine this thing being easily damaged. My only regret is not having a second one to hold the entire board strait all at one time, and I may go back and order another. ... show more

  • Decent for Small Jobs, But Lacks Strength and Instructions
Item Shape: Circular/Bar Number of Items: 1
This deck board straightening tool works reasonably well for smaller projects and occasional use, but it falls short when tackling larger or more demanding decking jobs. The design is functional, and it can help pull boards into alignment when you only need a little extra leverage, especially with lighter composite boards or shorter sections. However, it does not feel as heavy-duty or sturdy as the description suggests. When applying a lot of force on stubborn, warped boards, the tool feels like it is reaching its limits. For professional-level deck installation or large projects where significant bending pressure is required, I would expect a stronger and more robust tool. Another drawback is the complete lack of instructions. For a tool like this, especially one designed to apply a lot of leverage, some basic guidance on proper positioning and safe use would be helpful. Beginners may have to figure out the best technique through trial and error. Overall, it is an acceptable tool for smaller decking projects and occasional repairs, but it is not the strongest or most durable option for serious deck-building work. At this price point, it gets the job done, but expectations should be kept realistic. ... show more

  • Very nice quality, makes job so much easier.. Works great with trex
Item Shape: Circular/Bar Number of Items: 1
Exactly what I needed for several decking jobs in the past; this will come in handy for a lot of future jobs. It's easy to use right out of the box; no assembly required. Just slip it around the board and straighten it out as needed. This works wonderfully on Trex decking. I have only used it to test it out on a few pieces, but it's so easy to use and will make my job so much easier. A lot less work than moving boards around, setting other boards on top for the day to straighten the ones on the bottom . I wish I had this years ago, it would have made my jobs so much easier. One of those tools you don't know you need until you get it. A great value for the price of the money. Easy to use, quality, heavy duty, made to last, makes your job easier- Everything you look & need in a tool. ... show more
