  • Good choice for the budget-minded
I've had US Mobile service for over 3 months now. I'm on their GSM 2GB Share Plan which includes hot spot and unlimited calls and texts nation-wide, and from within the US to Canada, Mexico, and 86 other countries. Call quality and connectivity is solid in cities. I can't speak to rural areas, though I've read that rural connectivity is almost non-existent when on their T-Mobile connection. Apparently, their Verizon connection is better if you live in or frequent rural areas. I'm mostly in medium to big cities on the East coast. Data speeds are decent/good during peak hours (according to my research, they get better priority compared to other MVNOs) and great during off-peak hours. I'm on their T-Mo connection and is on par or a little better compared to Mint Mobile during peak, and downright great compared to ATT prepaid in my areas (mainly East coast, some West) whether on or off peak. ATT cannot compare to US Mobile. It's amazing that ATT charges more than double for their annual prepaid plan for subpar service. Two negatives: They took almost two days to port in my number from ATT. In this day and age, ports should be completely automated and happen almost instantaneously, or a few hours at most, not days. CS rep responded quickly enough to my inquiry, but just gave a generic "they ran into issues during the port process" response and did not provide any kind of specifics. But at the very least, they responded quickly and were aware of an "issue" and were actively trying to "resolve" it. The port went through about half a day after I contacted them, and my service was active and ready to go. The other negative is their voicemail system. It requires you to actually say something on your outgoing message. With every other VM service I've had, I could choose to have the system give an entirely automated generic message akin to "you've reached [phone#], leave a message at the tone". But with US Mobile, you have to have your actual voice on the outgoing message. Not that it's a big deal, but I just prefer a completely automated message rather than my own voice. I won't deduct any stars for the couple of negatives. The two days wait wasn't too extreme (especially for the cost-savings), and the voicemail thing is just a personal preference, nothing to do with vital functionality. These are just some things to be aware of. Good choice for budget-minded folks who don't always need the top most data priority/fastest speeds during peak hours, but enough to surf the web, check emails/social media, pretty much everything except streaming UHD video. ... show more

  • Great Sim card kit for US Mobile
Model: DarkStar+Warp
US Mobile SIM Card kit contained cards for both ATT and Verizon. Cards were also adaptable to all 3 standard size SIM cards. Easy to setup and worked like a charm. Thank you Amazon. Received the kit in one day and this was truly a blessing because US Mobile botched my order and ultimately took 14 days to deliver my cards. I was panicking after 2days without a phone... That's why I ordered from Old Faithful: Amazon. Finally, you won't find this kit for a cheaper price anywhere on this Planet. ... show more

  • Comparison: USMobile vs Red Pocket
I've had both Red Pocket and US Mobile. Here is a comparison according to my personal experience. Rating 1-5, with 5 being the best. PACKAGING: USMobile: 5 Red Pocket 2 Red Pocket gomes in a "thank you card" size envelope. Very basic and unimpressive. Does not come with anything else besides the sim cards and cloudy instructions. USMobile comes with thoughtful, professional packaging. Looks beautiful. Also comes with tool to pop out sim card which is a BIG bonus and easy to follow instructions. EASY TO INSTALL: USMobile: 5 RedPocket: 1 I have an android ZTE ZMAX Pro with MetroPCS. I could only use one type of service with both. With RedPocket I had to create an APN and add very specific information. Took 15 minutes to get right. I also had to create an APN with USMobile, but had only one setting to change. Took 1 minute. SIGNAL STRENGTH: USMobile: 5 RedPocket: 1 With RedPocket I could not get signal strength in my apt (Southern California). I also lost connection while driving and using google maps. Was at mall and could not connect to fingerprint recognition apps. Could not make any calls 70% of the time. With USMobile I get 2-4 bars in my apartment, able to access data and use call feature 100% of the time (so far). CUSTOMER SERVICE: USMobile: 5 RedPocket: 4 USMobile has 24 hour customer service. Red Pocket has decent hours; available 12 hours a day. WAIT TIME ON HOLD: USMobile: 4 RedPocket: 2 Both are not perfect. Red Pocket answered my call twice within 5 minutes which is great. But when I called again with the same issue, I waited 40 minutes. USMobile wait time (so far) has been under 5 minutes. SIM CARDS: USMobile: 4 RedPocket: 5 Both offer two different types of sim cards according to your phone. With RedPocket, if you go to their site, you can avoid the $10 sim card fee and just pay for one month service. USMobile charges $3.99 whether you buy from them or Amazon. PRICE: USMobile: 5 RedPocket: 5 Both have decent prices. RedPocket will give you 1000 minutes and texts and 1 gig data for $15 flat. But if you have a poor signal you can't use. Includes taxes. USMobile is decently priced and oyu can pick what you want. I chose 300 minutes at $5, no text (as I use google hangouts app for texts) and $10 for 1 gig. I am not attached at the hip with my phone so this is all I need. There is additional fees for taxes. Mine is $2. DISCOUNTS: USMOBILE: 5 RedPocket: 1 RedPocket does not have any coupon codes that I could find. But I could be wrong. US Mobile gives $25 off if you use an a f f i l i a t e co d e. If you want mine, just comment. That's about it. I canceled my RedPocket 3 days after having and the last 3 days have been satisfied with US Mobile. ... show more

  • WARNING: Do NOT purchase if you plan to use it as an internet connection.
I live in a rural area. There is no ability to get decent internet without using cellular service. For years I have been using Verizon and using my phone as a hotspot, but due to spotty connection, it meant that if I wanted a stable internet connection I had to leave my phone in my window. Obviously, I did not like doing this, but I felt that I had no real choice. Then I discovered the Netgear Nighthawk, a 4G Mobile Router. It promised to solve this issue once and for all, but of course, I needed a sim card and a new phone line. This is what brings me to US Mobile. US Mobile advertises themselves as offering unlimited data and make the claim that their sim cards can be used as a hotspot. Indeed, when you sign up for their plan, there is an additional charge to be able to use a hotspot. I purchased the best plan they had to offer: Unlimited Talk & Text ($10), Unlimited Data ($30), Data Speed Ludicrous ($15), plus Hot Spot ($10). The ludicrous data speed plan is advertised to be suitable for HD Streaming and Gaming. Needless to say, I was excited and extremely hopeful, despite the plan being advertised as costing $65, but in reality, costing just over $72. However, I should have known it was too good to be true. The first week went fine. Then I went over 15 Gigabytes and the plan stopped working altogether. At first, I thought something was wrong with the network, and it was late at night so I decided to go to bed and try again in the morning. When I tried it again, no matter what I attempted or where I moved my hotspot, it would not connect to the internet. So, I reached out to Customer Service. I was then told that everything was fine and that I would just have to report to them every time I went over 15 Gigs. They would have to manually reset my connection. I was upset, but at least my internet still worked right? Wrong. Later that afternoon it happened again. I contacted US Mobile once again and explained the issue. I was asked what device I was using, and I told them that I was using a Netgear Nighthawk. I was then told that I was violating their terms of service. Their sim cards, apparently, are only supposed to be used in phones and tablets. Had I placed the sim card into my phone instead and used it as a hotspot instead of the Nighthawk, it would have been perfectly fine. (So they claim.) But because I was using the Nighthawk, they throttled me down to 2G speeds. I tried asking for a number to their corporate office. They refused to give me one. I wanted to negotiate for a partial refund and an immediate end to the plan--I felt that was fair. I did not mind paying for what I had used, but they were extremely unclear about their data requirements and what devices it could be used within. They were, after all, advertising that their ludicrous plan was suitable for HD Streaming and gaming. So, here I now sit. Throttled to 2G speeds, forced to report to them like they were a parole officer every time I approach 15 Gigabytes of data used, with 21 days left in my plan. Meanwhile, I am out of nearly $75. My advice to you: Learn from my experience. If you are like me, living in a rural area, forced to use cellular service for your internet, AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE. ... show more

  • Good SIM Card Kit
Model: DarkStar+Warp
I am super happy with my switch to US Mobile and am giving it a solid four stars! It's an awesome service if you're looking to save money without a lot of compromises. What's great:First, the plan flexibility is top-notch. I love that I could build my own plan and only pay for the data I actually need. Second, the value is unbeatable! My monthly bill is a fraction of what it used to be with a major carrier. Lastly, their customer service has been fantastic—quick, friendly, and actually helpful when I needed to port my number over.Things to consider:On the other hand, my data speeds can sometimes slow down in very crowded areas, like during a festival. The initial setup process also required a bit of patience to get everything working perfectly. And since it's an online-only service, you don't have a physical store to go to for in-person help if you need it.Overall, it's an amazing deal, and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for more control and big savings on their phone bill! ... show more

  • Good Customer Support & Great Pricing
I wanted to write this review after seeing the top two reviews being negative ones. The short story is US Mobile is one of best cell phone carriers I've used. When using a prepaid/budget cell phone service, there is always the thought of you missing out on something since you're not part of a big 3 postpaid plan (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile). I can confidently say my service will US Mobile has been great! Read more below. PRICING: Other reviews have described US Mobile as a "scam" or "misleading" because they don't disclose total price up front. While they don't display total price on website, when you receive your SIM kit, you create your free account and pick a plan. It will display the total price with taxes and fees BEFORE you have to pay. Note: It's better to order SIM directly on US Mobile site because you can get a free SIM kit using code FREESIM. Here's the total plan pricing, including taxes and fees, for the different fixed data bucket plans: - 1GB plan $16.61/mo (listed on website as $12/mo + tax/fees) - 5GB plan $19.91/mo (listed on website as $15/mo + tax/fees) - 12GB plan $25.31/mo (listed on website as $20/mo + tax/fees) - 18GB plan $30.83/mo (listed on website as $25/mo + tax/fees) - 30GB plan $36.36/mo (listed on website as $30/mo + tax/fees) Mobile hotspot feature costs $5/mo extra if you want that for fixed data bucket plans. $10/mo extra for 20GB mobile hotspot allowance on Unlimited Data plan. The pricing on the Unlimited Data plans is some of the best I've seen. $45/mo for 1 line (taxes and fees included). $30/mo per line for 2 lines ($60/mo total), and $25/mo per line for 3+ lines. Plus you can get reimbursed for 1 perk with 3 lines and 2 perks with 4+ lines. Perks include: Netflix (Standard 2 screen), HBO Max, Apple TV+, Spotify Family, Audible, etc. CUSTOMER SERVICE: US Mobile has good customer service! The chat support button is listed at the top right hand corner of their website and also easily accessible in their mobile app. I'm usually able to get connected with a live agent right away. They also have a phone number if you prefer calling but chat support is so good I haven't had to do that. So many prepaid carriers are just...not good when it comes to customer service, so I really love that US Mobile is good with this. WEBSITE DESIGN: This may seem off to bring up but US Mobile's user interface on both desktop and mobile app makes finding things and getting answers to common questions so easy! Everything is perfectly laid out. NETWORK: US Mobile, per contract agreements with main carrier, can't disclose exactly what networks they use but I found it out through searching. The starter SIM kit comes with two SIM cards to choose from. Black "Super LTE" SIM card is Verizon White "GSM LTE" SIM card is T-Mobile Pick which one works best in your area. PORTING YOUR NUMBER: To keep you're same phone number when transferring service, going to need: - Account number - Transfer PIN (Verizon requires transfer PIN to port out, AT&T doesn't. With AT&T, you just PIN your account is set up with) - Billing address (make sure billing address on old carrier matches info you put into for porting) - Unlocked phone (make sure your cellphone is fully paid off and have carrier unlock it. This can take 24-48 hours) That's it. Do NOT cancel your current service. It will cancel automatically when port in to US Mobile is complete. You need to have active service with current carrier for port to go through. ------ A big thing to keep in mind when reading old reviews is US Mobile completely overhauled their plan offerings and website back in February 2021. ... show more

  • The Good - Inexpensive CDMA/Verizon coverage. The Bad - Customer service is not knowledgeable
As an iPhone XS user, with ATT as my primary (eSIM) line, I wanted to add Verizon as a backup carrier and have both of my phone numbers on a single phone. Even with a corporate discount, Verizon's plans were far to expensive for my needs as I only required unlimited talk and text service. Then I find US Mobile on a whim; their Super LTE plans were just what the doctor ordered. Shipping - 5 stars Prime shipping Value for the money (product only) - 5 stars You receive the Super LTE and GSM SIM cards for 3.99. Unlimited talk and text plans are $10/mo. An all in plan is around $55/mo. Value for the money (service only) - 2.5 stars With such a low price point, I suppose one should have balanced expectations for service; however, I do expect that the customer service representatives are knowledgeable on the service and understand how to troubleshoot. My activation (with a number port) was HORRIBLE. There was not a single action offered by US Mobile that was done right on the first attempt. The "front line" chat and telephone representatives primarily read from scripts and they do an AWFUL job in either notating the account and or reading the full account notes; this lead to long back and forth discussions with the agents. I also had agents state information that was FALSE. I had to hop between chat and phone calls to find an agent that was somewhat knowledgeable. If you are porting your number to US Mobile, I recommend that you converse with your original carrier first so that you can receive confirmation that the number is ready to port prior to submitting the request through US Mobile. When making the port request, I cannot attest to whether submissions via US Mobile's online portal or over-the-phone are any more successful, but be prepared to call frequently every 48 hours to check on the status and back that up with dialing your number to see if serve with your original/former carrier is still active. After the third week, and a third attempt, the port worked successfully; however US Mobile's automatic activation failed. This meant, I had to rely on the manual process of US Mobile to activate the plan to the SIM card. Of course, I had agents tell me that I cancelled the port and the port did not complete. This was not true and the comments came from a lack of detail when reviewing the account notes (in my case, when submitting the last port request, there was a system error which resulted in multiple card charges. An agent, had to reverse out the duplicative charges but the original request, after the technical issues were resolved, was processed). After the port completed, it took approximately 15 hours for my line to be activated. After 3 weeks, I was able to achieve my primary goal to have ATT and Verizon (based service) on my iPhone XS and not double my cellular costs. I really hope that I do not have many technical issues with US Mobile, because I know that issues will require a lot of time. Since I value my time to be work more than $10/hour, I'm not sure if the true cost of service is that cheap given the time investment if you encounter issues. For some, this may not be an issue and will still get true benefits from the cheaply priced plans and marginal customer service. Disclosure: If you do not need to port your number, I suspect activation and 'ease of use' is probably a better experience. ... show more
