  • Unsturdy piece of firewood
Color: Oak
Do not buy this bookshelf. It buckled under the weight of my books. It is dangerous and could hurt someone. It came in two boxes. I only received one. It was labled one 2-shelf book case or the bottom of the 77" bookcase. I put in a request to send it back but the top came the next day so I built it. The manufacturer attempted to make their bookshelves modular. They did this by drilling a whole through one of the shelves, sticking a metal connecting rod through it and into the top and bottom of the side panels. This is a complete piece of crap. The weight of my books against one side caused the entire bookshelf to buckle to the left. I was in a bind and needed the shelf so I had some brackets that I used to try to strengthen it (in photo). It is still wobbling but it is much more sturdy. I'll probably have it so there are 4 brackets on each shelf and then screw in all shelves rather than using the pegs in the holes to place the shelves. That should strengthen it more. Remember to predrill if you do because this is particle board and will split if you do not. Oh, I forgot to mention that when the shelves buckled, it tore the backing off as well...see picture. The final shiv in the rib cage was the decorative molding. The left side was one piece. The right side was 2 pieces that were taped together...What The FU@#$@$@#$#????? See pic. I guess that china doesnt do waste and took all the odds and ends to make full pieces. This is a nightmare mess and you should avoid it at all cost. DO NOT BUY THIS HORRIBLE BOOKSHELF/to be kindling when my family leaves for the holiday. ... show more

  • Unit Comes in 2 boxes, DO NOT ASSEMBLE Bottom Unit before the Top Unit - Assemble together
Color: Oak
This unit was very hard to assemble, no part labels, no idea which was was up or front. It arrived in 2 boxes, so I put the bottom unit together first, then realized after opening the top unit that some parts of the bottom unit needed to be removed from the bottom unit and moved to the top unit. No where in the instructions does it say this, if you open the bottom box first. I had one damaged part and one missing part. The cams could have plastic covers as do most other companies, but not this one, so they are showing inside the shelves. Made of cheap press board. Wood finish is Paper thin and I mean actual Paper just stuck on. Very easily to mark and damage during assembly. Not impressed with the quality of this, not worth $170. It should come with some felt or teflon feet, but nope. After a few months, the cheap pressboard shelves start to sag, and will eventually snap in half. Off to Lowes to see if we can get real wood replacements. If you click get product support, it takes you to a 404 web page. ... show more

  • YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
Color: Espresso
This bookcase is nice looking, but while assembling it, you can tell that it is not that solid. For example, the "thick" posts you see on the sides of the front are merely held in place by dowels, not screws. I don't know how long it will last, and I don't think they offer any real support for the entire structure. The wood is composite with veneers that are easy to nick so that it exposes the composite underneath. The shelves are not that bad, but they do look on the thinner side compared to other bookcases out there. Unfortunately, and this is not very obvious in the picture, the lock-screw mechanism that is used for assembly and holds most of the pieces together, are exposed. This makes the look of the bookcase cheap. The worst part!! I failed to re-read another review posted here when I had saved this bookcase as a potential purchase. In it, it clearly states that this bookcase arrived in two (x2) boxes. Why? Well, because it is NOT ONE SOLID PIECE!! It is composed of two (x2) halves: the bottom where you can see a defined line as part of one of the fixed shelves and then the top. Sadly, I opened the smaller box first (lower half). When you look at the instructions and the parts in the box, it creates (assembles) an entire, shorter bookcase. I thought they sent me an extra bookcase at first, but decided to assemble it anyway. Once completed, I opened the larger/longer box. That's when it got interesting... when I found the instruction manual, I realized I had made a mistake about the "small" bookcase; it turns out that is was the bottom half. Why is this a big deal? Well... When assembling the "small" bookcase, I placed the top on like the instruction manual told me to, as well as the backing WITH NAILS like it told me to. Unfortunately, the top is supposed to go on the UPPER HALF of the bookcase. I had to carefully remove the nailed-in backing (slightly damaging the wood of the bookcase), then remove the top. So frustrating!! I could go on, but...I realize you may not want to keep reading. In summary, this is inexpensive - yes - but it is also VERY CHEAP, and worth the money I paid. I would rather spend another $200 dollars and get a better bookcase. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! ... show more

  • VERY POOR WORKMANSHIP
Color: Espresso
Very poor workmanship! The item arrived well-packed and without external damage. When putting the shelves together we found two shelves with dented corners, one of which also had the holes drilled in the wrong places, and one shelf with chips on the edge (sawblade damage) exposing the particle board beneath. We never buy the least expensive of items, but not the highest either. Unfortunately in this case we were sadly disappointed at the poor workmanship and will never order from this company again. ... show more
