I have too many books that I haven't read so this book shelf was a real Godsend. But right away I saw that the spacing of the top section of shelves (there is a fixed position shelf in the middle) would allow plenty of room for an additional shelf. This worked well because I have a lot of smaller books. However, the shelf adjustment holes where the pegs that support the shelves are placed, are not in the right places to allow for this. So I did have to drill two additional holes on each end - being ever so careful not to drill too deep and end up with a hole going completely through the side of the unit. I used the old "tape-on-the-drill-bit" trick to ensure this didn't happen. All in all, I'm pleased with this book shelf. However, I was disappointed that it was not constructed of solid wood but rather paper-covered particle board. It is good quality paper-covered particle board but still not the same as a nice solid wood shelf. I do note that as soon as the shelves were loaded with books, I could see that they were bowed down in the middle. My one replacement shelf is a used piece of solid pine 1x12 and does not bow in the slightest - and that's where my heaviest books are. I spent a few years of my life working as a carpenter and consider myself mechanically minded and adept at assembling things like this. So I was surprised at how long it took me to put this shelf together. I was working by myself and it took three hours + (not including the extra time it took to cut and assemble my additional shelf). Assembly was not difficult, it just took time. Directions were step-by-step drawings that walked you through the complete assembly process. Much like Ikea furniture. I was also surprised at how heavy the box was when it arrived. Normally drivers bring packages to my porch. They left this one on the driveway. I ended up opening the box right there and carrying it down to my basement piece-by-piece. So needless to say, the finished shelf is quite heavy. ... show more

This oak book shelf is beautiful as you can see! Beautiful neutral oak — no outdated yellow or orange undertones. It instantly made my living room better visually! I love the arched top and that the shelves adjustable. This furniture piece is both modern and timeless and well made. It is made in the United States which really shows when it comes to quality and organization. Assembly was an 8/10. I had to reassemble once because I got the side foundation pieces backwards — my fault. Before putting it together please get the correct orientation so you won’t have to assemble it again. I also wish the parts came with a labeled sticker. No labels. You just have to look at the steps with visuals to orient yourself of which piece has the matching pre drilled holes as a guide. This is no biggie as it was still very easy. Instructions were clear and in an easy way to understand. I assembled this by myself because I couldn’t wait for my husband to get from work. Mind you, I’m 34 weeks pregnant and in nesting mode so I enjoyed building this. Also, DO NOT USE A POWER DRILL! Use a regular screw driver. Or else, you will over drill the bolts and you don’t want that!! Overall, very happy with my new furniture piece! Great quality and furniture piece has a good weight to it! ... show more

    • Huge, heavy bookshelf.

This product is a very tall, spacious, and heavy bookshelf. It is quite simple but has a unique archway on the top. It is sturdy enough for books, collectibles, electronic components, or pretty much anything you could put up there. This thing could probably hold stacks of bricks. The product is easy to put together but it does help if you are a little taller or have a lot of room to space out the parts. It does go together easily and although it is heavy it is definitely manageable. It looks like it should be 100 years old and feels like it will last 100 more. It will definitely look great in any room, regardless of what goes on it. ... show more

I expected more from an American made product. The hardware was mostly plastic, the particle board was very easy to knick and scratch. They do include a black marker with it so you can touch up scratches, but if it was made well it wouldn't be required. Instead of being neatly packaged into individual bubbles, the hard ware pieces (screws, cams, bolts, and things) were a jumbled mess inside one pouch. You had to hunt through it to find what you needed. The instructions were well written, but none of the wood pieces had lettered decals so you knew which was which. Very disappointing to assemble. I'll need to get some L Brackets to attach it to my wall as the enclosed cable tie doesn't seem strong enough to keep the fully assembled bookcase from falling over. It is far too tall and not deep enough for such a tall bookcase. Would not recommend in a home with children or animals. ... show more

Quite literally the best bookcase I've ever owned. It took me about an hour to assemble with no issues (just follow the directions). The bookcase is super sturdy and offers a ton of storage capacity. Highly recommend if you are looking for a new bookcase.

    • Great Looking Fairly Good Quality

Unlike usual furniture where assembly is required, the instruction book for this bookcase doesn't care to separate and label each piece of hardware. Despite this, putting it together moves along pretty smoothly. The front styles were a bit tight but I got them to work. I work at a cabinet shop, so to me this case is fairly cheap. The wood is MDF and the worst part is the edge banding and "veneer" is actually just paper with wood grain printed on it and in a few places it is flaking off at the edge. However, I realize this is the only way to make a book case like this affordable for most of us. Overall, though, this is a step or two above a Wal Mart book case and looks really nice in our living room! ... show more
