I installed this to open left to right. Very solid door and does not warp. The frame is very solid, and I roughed out the opening to 14" square with 2x3's and it worked great. I wanted a study clean access door with a lock so I could allow easy access to the plumbing under my bathroom … and this door fit the bill. It was actually easy to install since I planned my size to be the exact width between my support beams. So I didn’t have to use any helper studs.
