This is the first battery powered rotary tool I have had. So far it is working really well. Very convenient and handy. This being the case, I don't really have a reference to compare to. It has been good for what I need it to do, battery life has been sufficient. The shape and grip are pretty standard, no more or less comfortable than any other. Comes with an assortment of bits that work well, and seems like it is pretty interchangeable with standard replacements. I would definitely recommend for ease of use and convenience.

This is a very decent cordless rotary tool with a decent set of accessories for the beginner. I have used the Dremel brand and the Craftsman brands of corded rotary tools and accessories for quite some time, so I'm very used to working with these. This would be good for someone looking for portability for small jobs or someone that might use this every once in a while. It is nice that everything comes in a compact package, so it won't take up much room if you are carrying it somewhere and/or storing it. I've used the sanding drums and the cutoff wheels out of this, and the sanding drums have worked very well. I've sanded wood and I've sanded even metal. The cutoff wheels work fairly well, but they break very easily, but almost all of these type do. I did have a hard time using the little screwdriver to tighten things down because it was too big for the screw, so I ended up using my own flathead. There are 52pcs of accessories, but that counts all the cutoff wheels and sanding discs. This charges fairly quickly and has held it's charge for quite a while as well. I do like the ease of switching speeds and the light at the end of the tool. The only con that I have is that when you turn it off, the off button (or clutch?) engages and turns it off immediately and creates a horrible grinding sound/feeling. This also locks the spindle so that you can tighten things down, but this doesn't seem like the best solution. I could foresee this breaking at some point, but as of right now, it has worked well.

Rotary tools are very useful for small DIY projects and crafts. I had a name-brand version with NiCd battery that was always dead when I needed it and took forever to recharge. This one has a lithium battery that will hold a charge for much longer when left unused and can be recharged via USB instead of a proprietary battery cradle. Everything is packaged neatly in a plastic case for easy storage and travel. I really like the light on the front that helps you see where the tip of the tool is at all times. There are 6 discrete speeds which should be plenty. The whole tool is much lighter and slimmer than the name-brand competitor which makes it useful for carving. There are a few quirks. One is how you turn it on and off; the power switch doubles as the locking mechanism to allow you to tighten down the bit, so unlocking it turns it on but turning it off effectively requires the locking mechanism to stall the motor with a very unpleasant "crunch" noise. I worry that this will eventually break with repeated use. The other is the orientation of the speed display which looks upside down based on how I hold the tool normally when I set the speed. If you hold it like a pencil you'll see the speed correctly, but you also wouldn't be adjusting speed while holding it that way.

works good and holds a charge for a long time. bits from other brands fit this tool as well. the speed of the tool is adjustable the end lights up the work area just fine. the only thing that concerns me is when you shut it off you also engage the the lock for loosening and tightening the collar to change bits, this means instead of the tool slowing and stopping you get this sudden slamming of a gear onto a fast spinning shaft that doesn't sound or feel very good for the tool.

I like that this rotary tool is battery powered. I find that the corded tools have a feeling of resistance to them...I can feel the cord pulling back when I move the tool around. Battery power negates that resistive feel...no cords. It can get the job done for sure. This is not an industrial tool...it's more of a handyman DIYer, hobbyist application. + The light at the end of the tool illuminates the working surface when the tool is on...very nice feature. + There are 6 different selectable speeds easily seen on the display panel + This is a rechargeable tool...there is a battery charge indication on the display panel of the tool + The kit comes with accessories and they are contained and organized within a compact carrying case + My other rotary tool accessories fit this tool, no problem - The way the tool instantly stops when switched off is very different. There isn't any coast down or gradualness to the stop process. It does seem mechanical and it does seem that system will be the weakest link.
