I e-mailed customer service and they suggested I try removing the batteries in order to reset the cube. So that is what I did, and now it works perfectly. The buttons are not very precise on the menu side of the cube. When I press the power button to turn it off it either says "select game" or it thinks I pressed the "Chase Me" game. When I try holding it down, it tells me the high score for "Chase Me". I gave up trying to turn it off and set it aside with the hope it would turn off automatically, but after five minutes of the music, I was ready to chuck it across the room and silence it permanently. I FINALLY got it turned off but I'm not sure which of the angry button mashes finally accomplished the task. My son likes it, so hopefully I'll learn the magic trick before the thing drives me utterly insane. EDIT: the company reached out to me to provide a refund and again to offer a replacement, which we received and which works much better. My son is able to turn it off easily.
