Doesn't latch very well with Ridgid Octane batteries. Barely holds in place, does not hold the battery anywhere near as firmly, solidly as with the power tool.

    • Upgraded my children's 12v Dc battery quad ~ Awesome!
Somehow I came across some info on upgrading a child's four wheeler. Our battery was dead and I was going to throw the quad away since it was really, really slow when the battery did work. However, I came across some info on upgrading it to 18v batteries (I have a few rigid tools). So I took the chance and my family is really happy I did. It has been just over a month and my kids ride it almost daily, going through two 4 amp batteries. It goes fast, not dangerously fast, but fast, much faster than the old battery. Nothing has broken, or melted, though I expect at some point it will since I am sure some of the parts are not geared for this amperage, but until then my kids are having a blast. It would be worth your money to buy one cheap at a garage sale or thrift and spend the $20 for the adapter kit. Just make sure you get the correct adapter for your brand of batteries. Oh, and the install was super simple. I sniped the wires on the quad and used butt connectors and crimped them. We did have a wire come loose from the adapter (one of my youngsters pulled on it trying to release the battery) which my son easily took apart and soldered the line back on. Easy slide on, lock, and release buttons. The wires are gaged correctly and have enough length to cut and splice multiple times. It's a full send! I will be ordering another soon for a second project.

Pretty basic which is fine but the soldering work was terrible, wire broke away just by touching it. But was easy to fix, see the pictures to see fix.

I bought this to run a project of mine off a ridgid battery and it was great. Little warning though. The plate itself can be a tad flimsy if you aren’t mounting to something completely flat be wary you aren’t warping and contorting the socket. I noticed mine had and I had to remove the screws and shim the back so it wouldn’t put so much pressure on it and crack down the road. But that’s not really a big deal or a deal breaker, just something to watch for. ... show more
