Great line, the only line I use in saltwater. Caught several sharks and suffered no abrasion related break offs. It allows you to stuff about twice the equivalent weight monofilament on a reel which can really save the day when you hook in to something huge- plenty of line for big runs and twice as strong. It won't degrade in sunlight like mono or get all curly from being on the spool. I have a spare spool for all my reels so at the end of the season I just put on the spare spool and reel it up- that way I have fresh line on the fish end. The best part is that in the long run, it's actually cheaper than mono if you fish a lot. I was spooling my reels every 3 or 4 trips, usually due to "spool set" or other factors. I have Power Pro on a reel that been on there for 5 years! No problems at all, and still has 100% of listed strength. Try it some time- get a come-along, fish scale and test out you lines and knots. You will be surprised.

This is the only stuff we use. Ive tried other brands and nothing comes close. This throws almost like mono and doesnt dig in to the reel when you catch a fish or put pressure on the reel. I have used others that dig in to the reel and ive have to cut the line off the reel. Its a little pricey for what it is but cry once and buy it. You get better deals for bulk buying. I use #80 for musky and catfish. In the past 10 years ive only had one break me off. That was probably my fault, broke at the knot. Good stuff.

I do a lot of ground fishing for Blackfish, fluke, black sea bass, cod, and scup. Powerpro is awesome fishing line since it doesn't stretch and give you the feel you need for these light biting fish. I can feel every bump of the bottom and can tell a fish from a rock. You can't beat PowerPro for hook setting ease. I hardly ever miss a good bite. It holds up very well for the whole season but you need to trim off the frayed end as it wears on the bottom. You need to learn to tie some good transition knots for leaders. I NEVER tie directly to a 3-way or to lures. You are asking for tangles. When braided lines like PowerPro get into a tangle. Save time and cut it and re-tie. When you fill a new spool, the first time you use the reel, find a nice sandy bottom spot, tie on a 16 oz sinker, let out 3/4 to 7/8 of the spool and reel it all back in. The wet line and the tension will repack the Powerpro on the spool so it doesn't cut into the spool and bind up.

Power Pro didn't invent micro fiber line but they were the first to market it to the saltwater fishermen here in FL. These super lines truly have revolutionized inshore fishing. Mono still has it's place and advantages but I have completely switched over to braided line. I fish primarily for trout, redfish, snook and tarpon. Braided line has less stretch so I get better hook sets, it is much smaller in diameter than equivalent strength mono so I can get much more line on a spool. 400 yards of line seems absurd but I've had big tarpon and sharks peel off 200 yards before I could get the boat started to chase them down. Braided line also allows you to cast further. Here in FL the further you can get a bait or lure away from the boat the better your odds are of getting a fish to eat. Most braided lines, power pro in particular, will give you great abrasion resistance, making it less likely that a fish will cut you off on a branch or piling. Your line may get frayed and force you to retie, but that's a small price to pay for getting a fish to the boat. There are downsides to micro fiber lines. It's prone to wind knots (always close your bail manually and don't over fill your spool). It is really hard to get out tangles. You need to learn some very specific knots and you need to learn to tie them well. Power pro isn't the best braided line on the market but it is a good line. If you are looking for a general purpose line and you will be fishing some bait and maybe some lures power pro will suit your needs. If you fish only artificials and you are looking for a line to maximize performance there are better options. The other thing I love about power pro is it lasts forever. I used to respool with mono every 6 months because the line would lose its stretch, become brittle and build up too much memory on the spool. I have rods that have 5 year old power pro on them and the line is still perfect.

The premier braid on the market. Very pricy, but worth it. I had to change my line out 3 times in a season with mono. Prower Pro lasts years. No stretch, very strong, durable and sensitive. The hi vis yellow is easy to see, but for most applications you with need to tie on a florocarbon leader which adds to the cost Watch out for back lashes, which can be a nightmare with any braid, and wind knots Every reel I owns is spooled up with this braid. I just catch more fish This said I would not recommend this for a beginner fisherman. Mono is much more forgiving.

Great product I don't catch alot of fresh water fish but I did Accidentally catch a goose by him flying by upon casting. Overall I love power pro, have been a fan for many years and catching that goose reassured me just how awesome it is. For power pro not the goose. I thought for sure he was going to put me in a bird's nest but nope not one tangle. It was just like flying a kite except that kite had power pro fishing line. I believe I had bought 20lbs test waited for dnr to arrive so we could unhook him . DNR looked at my line and said to me, (Power Pro)¿ I looked back at him and said your got dang right. Also when I'm not catching geese or fish I use it to hang my wife's plants up with. Haven't had a single break yet and they've been hanging for just about a year now. Now if you give me the moss green power pro I'll catch fish everyday of the week.
