The netting material has a rubber grip to it not like a classic net. When dealing with fish this could be a benefit however, if you are trying to catch a bird that got out of its cage...not so much it could seriously damage their feathers. So keep in mind what you would use the net for. It folds closed and open easily. The handle is not extendable. I wish it was longer. The depth of the net is excellent.

Ok, now this is the coolest landing net I'll ever own. It deploys with a flick of your wrist, locking the net in place to land the fish. This is a no cumbersome solid frame that gets in the way of twigs, reef, or other things that would snag your net while walking stealth looking for fish that's skittish. This is your answer, a switch blade style landing net that you can clip onto your back or pouch without it getting in the way. This is made very well. The plastic feels like an impact resistant material. The hinge where it deploys the net is very sturdy. The clip to hold the net in place is well engineered to lock into position. The netting is rubber coated to prevent the fish from getting injured if you're doing catch and release. The handle is very ergonomically curved to protect your wrist when landing a large fish.

There is a lot to like about this net. It folds easily. Strong curved handle with a rope and clip. It’s collapsible which makes traveling easier. The net material itself is the rubber kind that gets tangled far less and more durable. The only things I didn’t like is that the long side is like a plastic bead rope and I’m not sure how that is going to hold up with netting bigger heavier fish. I was also hoping for a little bigger net. The second picture compares the size to another fishing net I have that I was hoping it would be bigger then. I had a hard time landing a pike with that size so I was looking for an upgrade, but that’s my own fault for not checking the description better.

I have lost too many fish because of fishing net problems. Often the net is too large and cumbersome or too small for the fish to bring in. This is just the right size net for inland lake fishing. The one-step folding switch makes it easy to setup and takedown. I love that I can just pack it up with little effort. It seems to me this can handle more than 9 pounds, but it’s not likely I will catch one that big, ha ha.

I bought one at Bass Pro a couple years ago and this one is as good and perfect for my Old Town Loon storage hatch in the front. If you kayak this is perfect to help get your catch in the boat to release or keep. Especially in the sit inside kayaks. Simply fold and stow!
