Basically, this is a small black mat about the size of your average placemat, 11.8" x 19.7". It is lightweight, has fairly good floor grip and is made of an EVA firm dense material with protrusions. It is waterproof, easy to clean and move from one location to another. According to the manufacturer placing in direct sunlight is to be avoided due to risk of degeneration. The directions for use also indicate this mat is "Not for children ~ Ages: 14 years +". I would say this is a foot reflexology mat with a unique design of 11 vertical rows of 1 3/4 inch placed pebbles and stones in various configurations. The directions on the box indicate 5 minutes of use to achieve possible health benefits. This is probably good advice, as simply standing on it can be quite uncomfortable and, in my case, required me to wear a pair of socks to work my feet on it a bit. I prefer using it under my feet in a seated position and then working the soles of the foot around the mat using varying amounts of pressure.
