Remote sucks totally. Useless. There is the crackling sometimes but that doesn’t bother me. Sorta feels like an old lp record so be aware it does have it. It’s a little cumbersome with the tv in terms of controls. Not a lot of power so use in a relatively small area. Sound is pretty good and the voice speaker is AWESOME. I’ve always dislikes these units because we never could hear the actors. This is gone. 400 price is ok but anything less makes this a outstanding value. ... show more

    • Truly An Awesome Surround Sound System That Is Virtually Wireless.
I have a house with no attic and no crawl space to run wires. It also has hardwood floors, so under the carpet is not an option. I finally discovered this system. It has a sound bar, a subwoofer and two "rear" speakers. You can place the soundbar on a table or mount it on the wall under a TV. The only wiring connection I made to the TV from the soundbar was the optical cable. The soundbar needs to be plugged into an AC outlet. The connections between the speakers and the sound bar are wireless. I believe it is Bluetooth. The subwoofer and "rear" speakers need to be plugged into AC power outlets. This is an important point. Since your TV is most likely plugged into an AC power outlet, it shouldn't be hard to add the soundbar to that. However, if you don't have an AC power outlet near where you want the other speakers, you will need find one or install one for each speaker. They recommend that the subwoofer be placed near the soundbar, so that could probably use the same outlet you're using for the TV. However, you can place the subwoofer elsewhere and it still sounds great. Apparently, it's difficult for us to determine the direction from which low frequency comes. Now, the "rear" speakers should be placed behind where on the left and right of where you sit to watch TV. Mine are more to the side and lower, but the separation is still awesome. Now, what I really like is that the remote control has a button to raise the volume of the voices. Often, other surround systems just have an overall volume control. By the way, there are other ways to connect audio to the soundbar. There is Bluetooth, so you can pair it with your phone. If you do that, it is no longer 5.1 surround sound. It is just the soundbar and the subwoofer. I'm sure there is even more you can do with this system. If you don't like running speaker wires, this is the system for you. ... show more

This review comes from the perspective of a long time audiophile. The good: It's super easy to hook up. Not easy enough for Grandma but probably easy enough for your Mom. The soundbar puts out very very crisp sounds. The wireless speakers were already paired - just needed to be plugged in. The Polk signal processing is impressive. Makes even 2 channel stereo sound very good. Surround speakers work well and can easily be heard. Subwoofer is sleek in design. The bad: Very lacking in audio adjustments esp. with the subwoofer. No on screen setup whatsoever. Very simple remote. You can basically ajust for bass, mid levels (voice) and surround sound volume. Bass sometimes sounds amazing and will shake the room. Other times it's non-existent - even when turned all the way up. Verdict: There simply aren't many wireless options on the market at this time esp. for high end systems. Polk provides this system as a solution to those who simply can't/won't run those wires all over the place. The speakers are mid-level and sound very crisp. For those technically challenged, they will undoubtedly like this system a LOT as it works straight out of the box with nothing more than a few HDMI connections. For audiophiles like myself, the sub could be bigger and lack of sound settings (esp. with the subwoofer) leaves me wanting more. Still, it covers enough of the bases to be "usable" esp. for a general family space. ... show more

    • This is a highly adjustable incredible sound bar for its price range.
I looked at and purchased a couple of sound bars and was not satisfied with the sound at all. One was Samsung and the other was JBL. This Polk Audio sound bar is far above both of them with a rich bass and can also hear the highs which was lacking in the others. Voices during movies was a problem but for the Polk sound bar the voices can be adjusted up and down ON THEIR OWN. With the pair of speakers sitting behind you it is totally surround.
