Description

First time ever using this film in a SX70. In bright light this takes a great photo. My only complaint is the 4 light bleeds on the right side of each photo. From the back it looks like the film is slightly pressed in on those 4 spots. It could be the camera I’m not really sure; since it was gifted to me. But a Polaroid from the 70s won’t take a perfect photo.. and that is character. Regardless the film captures a great photo. EDIT. I cleaned the rollers and the images are now smooth. It worked pretty well but the last couple, they started coming out black, I don't know if it was because the sun hit them or if it's how they came but they worked for the couple I did use.

Great film! So far I've had very good results with this film. It's not the original film we know and love from the 70s, however considering Impossible (now polaroid) had to re-invent this film with all new chemicals, beggars can't be choosers. I've seen a lot of people point out that their film was expired when it arrived, and I'd like to point out that the date on the side of the box is NOT the expiration date, but the PRODUCTION DATE! I am seriously unimpressed with the SX 70. True it’s a Polaroid, but back in the day the film actually developed. The issue is the modern film stock is nowhere as stable as it was back in the day. SX70 isn’t supposed to be an easy camera. That’s why we have the 600 series, but out of two boxes only two photos developed, everything else was a dude. I’ve tested out and modified 600 film to run in the SX70 and that turned out better than this. If you’re into film, bless your heart, it’s not a cheap hobby. If you want to collect a cool camera. Find a broken SX70 and save your money. Instax by Fuji is without a doubt your next best option even though it’s format blows. Polaroid does one thing right, it’s square format is large and stunning when using optimal film and shooting in a controlled environment. The mini, wide, and square formats are superior in the processing “you spend ten bucks you get ten photos that will more than likely all develop”, but the Dimensions are all wonky and weird to look at. Mini is too small, wide is the best but like the mini I’m not a fan of the wide look. Square should be perfect, but it’s too small. On an economic level you can buy a pack of 60 mini photos for 35 bucks which is a steal in my book. Also instax cameras are really good, mint has a really neat twin lens reflex instax that’s pretty cool. I have the Neo 90 classic and the Instax wide camera. The Neo 90 has some cool bells and whistles, but unless you want to have fun doing double exposures “and I know you do” you’re okay I’m just the basic model instax. The wide however looks comical and fugly, like it’ll take your picture and steal your soul. Fuji needs to go back to the drawing board. The SX70 is a beautiful camera, a relec from a interesting time in instant photos. But the quality has not passed over time. If you have the camera, buy a roll, experiment in a controlled environment. If it works, great keep filming, if not, save your money. Buy instax or buy a 600 camera and save your money. ... show more

Film works and is good! But what happened to the price! It was $15-18 cheaper almost doubled in price? What has changed? I know it’s from one place and thank goodness it’s being made but I will not buy at this price $5.00 a shot is absurd! Disappointing.

This is a downgrade from the SX-70 film of the 70s-80s and a disappointment for those of us who remember the 90 seconds development time (vs 15-20 minutes today) and not having to shield the ejected photo from direct light for 15-30 minutes. Meanwhile, Polaroid is losing business to Fuji Instax film which works exactly as the old SX-70 film did 40 years ago in the Fuji instant cameras for half the price 'and' you get 10 pictures per pack not 8. Polaroid needs to up its game. That being said, the modern Polaroid SX-70 film definitely beats a blank. I'll still gladly get SX-70 film for my SX-70 cameras but I'll use the Fuji camera and film (in Disney World this summer) more often than the SX-70. The 1st Photos are SX-70 film and the 2nd photos are Fuji Instax film using a Fuji Instax Wide Camera. ... show more
