    • Buying Pokémon Cards online will always be risky
Ehh, I’m not sure, to be honest. I’ve been chasing a high ever since I pulled the top chaser Pikachu from Surging Sparks, and finding Pokémon cards in the wild for retail price has become increasingly difficult. I decided to purchase this box because the price dipped slightly from what it was previously selling for (still above retail, unfortunately), and I took a big risk buying it just to chase that feeling — and, of course, to work toward completing my Master Set. The box arrived with slight damage near the top — it was concaved by the opening flap, which immediately raised a red flag for me. It was plastic sealed, but once I removed the wrap, the box opened very easily — another red flag. That made me question whether the box might’ve been resealed or tampered with. I really can’t tell for sure. Inside were six packs, which is a good sign, and the cards themselves are authentic. I only got one decent pull (Lacey, Ultra Rare, 166/142), but considering the total cost ($65.31 after tax) versus the card’s value ($2.87), I can’t say it felt worth it. Each pack came out to about $5.31 — not terrible, since single packs where I live cost around $4.90 — and I did fill in a few gaps in my Master Set. I debated between a 3-star or 4-star rating and landed on a 3.5 (rounded up to 4) because I truly can’t confirm if the box was tampered with or not. I really wish Pokémon would add special security features to their packaging — maybe printed Poké Balls on the plastic wrap or a tamper-proof sticker with an authenticity barcode sealing both the top and bottom flaps. It would give collectors so much more peace of mind. Overall, if you’re able to find Pokémon cards in stores for retail price, I highly recommend going that route instead of taking the risk with online boxes that may or may not have been resealed. Until Pokémon adds better authenticity measures, buying online will always come with that uncertainty. ... show more

So I was a bit skeptical about buying one seeing as some reviews stated that there was tampering and reseals involved. But I ignored the signs and went through with buying 1 bundle to give it a try. To my surprise, I actually got a full art holo foil of Squirtle. I was so happy and ecstatic about pulling this card. It was the only one I truly wanted from the Stellar Crown collection.
