Top Amazon Reviews

  • Great game tarnished by hardware capabilities
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch Edition: Pokémon™ Scarlet + The Hidden Treasure...
I was one of those that didn't buy Pokemon Violet/Scarlet because I read those reviews and how much the game suffered from bugs, glitches, and hardware limitations, and trust me, even after all the upgrades to optimize the games, they can only run so well on Switch. Now that THAT'S out of the way, let me tell you that this game has some of the BEST lore in all Pokemon series, the best graphics so far, despite not being up to par with so many other games out there, but considering all the things happening around, like the many different Pokemon behaviors, their actions, the way they go about as if they were alive in the game, I think that this game is running on Switch is a complete miracle. Controls are smooth, tight, and easy to get used to, but some bugs cause problems that may even cause you to lose control of your character. The music is really beautiful, the ambience in the game gives this such a breath of life, and everything just seems to connect in harmony. The gameplay itself is fast, precise and despite the bugs and glitches, it can be smooth, to a certain point. Catching Pokemon in this game is a delight since the capture mechanic works so much faster than before. The open world is pretty vast, albeit a bit smaller than other open worlds on other games, yet it feels alive and aware. Then there's the story, which at first doesn't really seem like much, and honestly, the school parts can really slow down the progress, but if you can stomach that and get it out of the way, you'll have a much better experience, and the tips given to you while in school are really helpful for your adventure. The rest of the quests that lead you up to the final story of the game are all enchanting and fun. A little note I would like to add: As I own both Scarlet and Violet, I can tell you the version with the least bugs and the most shiny Pokemon encounters is Scarlet. For some reason, in my experiences with the games, Scarlet showed less signs of bugs and glitches, and while on Violet I encountered 1 shiny in the wild, even with the mass outbreaks happening, Scarlet had me face and capture a total of 18 or more shiny Pokemon. The DLC content is also a jewel! The story with Ogrepon is very endearing, and it ended up being my favorite Pokemon now, while the story with the Blueberry Academy was a little tense, but it made things fun and interesting. Finally, the story with Pecharunt was a lot of fun, though sadly short. Overall, I recommend Pokemon Scarlet + DLC with my eyes closed, to anyone still on the fence about it. ... show more

  • Good but not worth the price
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch Edition: Pokémon™ Scarlet + The Hidden Treasure...
I'm a long time Pokemon fan and I did enjoy my experience with this game. The character designs, music, and story are really fun. Scarlet and Violet are natoriously unpolished, and I did experience my fair share of bugs, especially with the sandwich minigame. The bugs weren't too immersion breaking for me, and if this game was cheaper I think it'd be a 10/10. But 90 dollars for base game plus DLC and I finished all the content in 2 months... It's not bare bones or anything, there's plenty to do, but I personally don't think it's worth the price. Which is unfortunate cus it is an enjoyable game and much better with with the DLC. ... show more
