Plymor 5" x 8", 4 Mil Heavy Duty Zipper Reclosable Plastic Bags What size bag to order? Measure your item by its width, height, and depth because the plastic bag needs to fit all the way around it. Item width + item depth = bag width. Item height + item depth = bag height. Add an extra 1/2" to the bag width for the item to fit through the zipper opening. What is Mil? "Mil" is the plastic thickness. 4 Mil = .004", thicker than a standard freezer bag and excellent for heavy duty applications. Are the bags food safe? Yes! Because our reclosable bags are made from virgin LDPE (low density polyethylene), they meet FDA requirements for food contact and storage, and are BPA-Free. How to open and close? For your convenience, the bag's top lip is offset, making it easy to separate the sides and open the zipper track. Separate the two sides of the bag's top lip and use your thumbs to gently pull the zipper track apart. To close, pinch together one end of the zipper and slide your finger and thumb along the zipper. These bags are of excellent quality and are far superior to those found in walmart or other grocery stores. They are 4 millimeters thick and feel heavy duty in hand. The plastic seems used to be very sturdy and the volume is spacious given the size. Mostly, I have used these bags for camping duties and my first aid kit asnd they have lasted for quite a long time with minimal wear. Also, the zipping mechanism on these bags is MUCH stronger than the ziploc brand and the like. They also seem to zip shut much easier and are easier to aline the zipper. However, when opening these bags, because the lock is stronger, you must be careful not to pull to hard as to not rip the plastice side seam. I have not done this before but it seems like a possibility. Afterall, these are still just plastic bags, they just are more equipped for harsher tasks. One thing I would recommend would be to measure out the sizes of the bags to make sure they are the correct size you intend to purchase. These bags are great for camping, first aid, general orginization and other tasks and will withstand a lot fo punishment before they break. The price is also great for 100 of these bags. Definitely worth the money difference from the 2 mil bags. I highly reccomend this item. ... show more

    • Perfect for Crafters: Marker and Acrylic Stamp Storage

Me and my mom are doing a major overhaul of our craft supplies (mostly scrapbook and beading), we got a variety of these in different sizes. We used them to hold everything from pens and pencils to paper pieces to acrylic stamps. The best thing we did with them was take all our acrylic stamps out of the bulky packaging and neatly up them in these baggies, and then put them in photo boxes. SERIOUS space saver. I also use them to store nails and screws for woodworking purposes. This specific size we stored a lot of medium sized acrylic stamp sets (craft speak for those who are not sure what I am talking about). They are the perfect size for the standard sets you get in the craft stores. We cut down the edging on the clear backing that holds the stamps on some of the sets a bit so they would just slide in. We also put color coordinated marker sets in these. They were delivered on time and packaged well. They open and close easily and securely. The 4 mil are perfect for tiny potentially sharp things or items that are liquid and may leak. They are sturdy and don't puncture from within or from outside objects easily. We ordered and reordered A LOT of these at all different sizes, and on several occasions. If I sold bulk or delicate items in smaller quantities, these would be perfect too. I use this 5" x 8" size 4 mil zipper bag to keep steel die sets together. I have many sets 4gat contain a lot of pieces. Misplacing a die from a set can be frustrating. Past storage options never worked. I saw a video about storing dies & the presenter used plastic envelopes that had a flap to close. I compared the cost of those to the cost of these Plymor zipper bags & these zipper bags were a lot less expensive to buy in bulk. Another reason I chose these bags was because of the zipper closing. If the zipped bag gets turned upside down, the contents will stay inside. The envelope with the flap might not stay closed all the time. Why risk it?! I purchased these bags in the hope that they would be a cheaper alternative to expensive stamp storage bags. They more than exceeded my expectations. They are clear, thick, sturdy bags that a hold my stamps beautifully. I was concerned that they bags might not be sturdy enough to hold my coordinating stamps and dies in the same bag but they hold my stamps in the front and coordinating dies with a magnetic sheet in the back with no problem. I used magnetic vent covers to hold my dies, linked to this review, with the white side so that it looks nice, see pictures. For the stamps that don't have dies I just cut a piece of white cardstock and slide it in. They look nice in the bin I have on my desk for my go-to stamps as well.
