After much searching for a protective display for our casted hands, this one was the perfect size. My husband’s birthday present this year was to cast our clasped hands, which he was delighted with! We made several mistakes throughout the process and our cast resulted in short and wide dimensions and finding a display to accommodate both was, by itself, another project (and unexpected expense). In my head, I expected to pay no more than $25, $30 the most...however... At the end of the day—yesterday—our project was complete and on display. (We received the black combination and I was sure I ordered one of the wood-tones! But my husband was totally satisfied with the black.) A little disappointed by this. It's pretty clear that the display dome that was shipped to me had been a return or second - the packaging for the glass didn't appear original, and in fact was slightly too small for the glass dome (though it was adequately protected by the outer box and packaging). The dome itself has two defects: 1) A small (1/4") bubble in the glass. There was a piece of black electrician's tape stuck next to this - someone clearly knew it was there. However, this isn't really a problem - it almost adds to the 'antique' feel of the glass 2) The top of the dome has a large area about 2 1/2" in diameter where the glass is a lot thicker and distorted. I'm not sure if this is normal or a defect. However, it is not central - it is offset from the top of the dome by about 1". This definitely is not something I expected. Note that the outside of the dome is smooth, and the correct shape - the extra thickness is on the inside. Other than that, the glass is clear, and the outside shape appears perfect. The bottom edge fits perfectly into the groove cut into the base. The base looks ok (and appeared to be in the original packing). It is made of MDF, covered with some kind of fake veneer - it does NOT have any kind of woodgrain appearance (based on the description, I had expected a natural walnut veneer) A this point I've given it three stars ("it's ok") - really, I'd like to give it 2.5.... I'm not sure whether these defects are 'normal' for the product, or whether this is a reject product that has ended up being re-sold (when it should have perhaps been destroyed). At this point I have decided to keep it though. Where it is located, I can turn it so that the thick area at the top is turned towards the back side, away from the viewer. That minimizes the affect (as it also appears central), but this really isn't the 'perfect' dome I was expecting for the money... ... show more

I bought this glass dome to cover my custom Jedi Training Remote replica prop. I ended up building a second, and through a miscommunication at home, I have ordered three of these so far. All three were of great quality. The glass is hand blown, but the diameter was constant, and a perfect circle. The only variances were in the size and position of the thicker portion on top, none of which were an issue for me. Some of them did have a few microbubbles, but the surface was clear. ... show more

I used this glass dome as stage for a tribute to my sister. It is perfect in size, the quality of the base is excellent and the glass dome is thick and strong as well as crystal clear. The only small thing is since it is hand blown there are a few minor imperfections in the glass in places, but they were easily hidden on the backside of the dome. ... show more

The glass dome I received has a lot of air bubbles in the glass. I wanted a clear glass dome. The bubbles are distracting and I fear the glass may be more fragile because of them.

Used as a dust cover to protect my Jedi floating lightsaber training remote. Clear, heavy and well protected. These are hand blown so there may be one or two small air bubble in the glass but happy with the dome.
