I can sit down at a table and play and 4 hour board game, or I can sit down and play a 30 minute board game and have just as much fun. I like to play board games with quality production and fun mechanics. This has both in spades and takes roughly an hour or so to play with a group. I looked all over town for this game after playing at a friends house and unfortunately the only place I could find it was on Amazon. I had to WAIT to get this board game and I typically don't care about waiting, that's how much I wanted to play it again. With adults, get you a bottle of your favorite rum while playing. Shirts will be ripped off. Dice will be thrown. Pirate accents will be used as you yell threats at your friends "I'LL BE TAKEN YER RUM NOW HAND IT OVERRRR MATEY!!!" With family and kids, just as fun (just minus the rum...probably)! Fun to be had for all ages. Be a pirate! Pirate the way YOU want to pirate! My 7 year old daughter sails around hunting treasure, my son sails around attacking all of us and I try to own more islands. It's all fair and square. Best board game I've played in recent years and well worth the $50 at the time of this review. Oh and what's a pirate's favorite letter? ....the C. ... show more

I bought this on a whim and I'm glad I did, my wife loves this game. We brought it on a trip with my family and I want sure what they would think and they liked this game as well. The rules may seem a little bit overwhelming at first glance but once you go through it there's not too much to it. You travel around the board taking islands, attacking ships, chasing treasures or trading with other players. By more ships and upgrade them to make them stronger and travel farther. It's a mix of strategy and luck that let even our 7 year old win a game against us. I wasn't sure about the price at first but the quality of the pieces are really good, not just cheap plastic so I feel my money was well spent on this one. ... show more

    • Great strategy game, takes a few rounds to master
Love this game so much we've already gifted it twice. A little pricey, but lots of intricate pieces. Lots of ways to keep the game interesting with different strategies (acquiring territory, fighting enemy ship, seeking treasure, etc) The only downside is that a player technically never "dies" and it feels a bit like Groundhog Day when you're dragging behind and you can almost never recover... We've added some house rules to adjust the pace of the game :) ... show more

We have a monthly game night & are always looking for new games. Came across this one, and we really have enjoyed it! Easy to play once you learn the rules. Reminds me of Catan but with pirates!

Plunder is a great game when having friends over. It's a pretty simple concept, so it's easy to learn. The pirate twist is super fun, and we love speaking in the pirate voices for treasure cards. It's beautifully designed, and the pieces feel expensive and well made!
