  • Excellent little pump
This is a terrific little pump, especially considering how inexpensive it is. It comes with two sets of tubing, a pair of gloves, and four hose clamps, which comprise a nice value added. I have used it thus far to remove the engine oil from a Promaster van, along with about half the ATF in the same van. In a Miata MX5, it left about a quart of engine oil in the oil pan, so not a great job there. It works quickly and efficiently, taking about 5 minutes to drain 5 quarts of oil. You want the engine oil warm, but not too hot. The manual gives a specific temp range for use. I found the suction tube is rigid enough to function well, but pliable enough to be easy to handle. I bought this to replace a Mityvac MV7201, which costs 5 times as much, and was a big disappointment. I don't know how long this will last, but first impressions are excellent. One gripe, which is minor, is that it is a bit noisy when pumping. But it's doing the job, and running the electric motor makes some noise. I can live with that. One additional feature, that should be obvious, but is still worth saying, is that you can put your used oil directly from the sump through the pump and directly into a recycling jug. A couple of suggestions I have from the get go - keep the caps for the pump, so that after use, the pump stays lubricated, and oil doesn't leak out. And find something - caps, corks, etc. to plug the ends of the tubes, so that no residual oil drips out when you're not using it. Bottom line: excellent little pump that can make oil changes and automatic transmission maintenance much easier. ... show more

  • Best money I spent for a tool
This pump has worked great for transferring fluids, sure saves from making a big mess. Lot cheaper than those $100+ transfer pumps you need to hand pump. This thing works a little slow but has worked great many times, small enough to get into tight spots. Wish I would have bought this years ago, great for adding trans fluid, sucking out coolant, gas or whatever. I use a small motorcycle battery and this thing works awesome. ... show more

  • Use the clamps provided
The suction on this machine is incredible. It ducked out 5.75 quarts in minutes. However. I did not clamp the exhaust side tubing. Half way through it blew off the tube and send oil all over. Lesson learned that the clamps were provided for a reason. I gave the machine to a friend who was impressed and will be purchasing another for myself. ... show more

  • Should have bought one a long time ago
I bought this to drain a transmission instead of dumping everything at once, which makes a mess all over. Worked great. There are two large diameter and two smaller diameter hoses that are included. I had to use the smaller one on the suction side to fit down the dipstick tube. It did take a few minutes to run pump, but it did get most of the juice out of the transmission. WHen dropping and pan, there was not much left and it did not spill all over. This is the way to go IMO. Just be careful with the residual fluid left in the pump and hoses. ... show more

  • Garbage
Do NOT buy this. It's total junk. Has no suction even with input and output at same heights. Pump collapsed the larger of the 2 hoses and wouldn't work hardly at all with the smaller one. It ran about 2 minutes before catching on fire and burning up. This is the biggest piece of crap I've ever bought on Amazon, and they know it because who is going to actually return a $20 pump soaked in oil? No ONE. This is a SCAM, plain and simple. ... show more

  • Just love this pump.
I used this pump on my two vehicles to remove the oil and it worked just great removing the oil from my drain pans. When I opened the drain plug only a very small amount of oil was still in the pan. This was a very clean oil change.

  • So far so good.... could use a few simple improvments...................
This is my second small electric engine oil pump. The first one, a different brand, but still available on Amazon, developed an internal leak after less than 10 uses. It made a big mess after that every time I used it, but I put up with it because I wanted to get my money out of it. Let's see if this one holds up any better. My guess is that they are both made by the same Chinese orphanage. My five complaints.: A. Changing oil with a pump like this tends to be a messy job. It's virtually inevitable you will end up with oily, slippery hands. The handle on the pump is not designed for this type of use. A. It is too short. B. It is too smooth textured. C. It doesn't have some kind of a knob or protrusion at its end to prevent slipping thru your hand. At a minimum some ridges in the handle might improve it dramatically in this respect. B. The small intake hose crimps at the pump end where the diameter necks down. It needs better strain relief and to be made of material which can hold up to moderately hot engine oil, ATF, etc. without going soft. The outlet hose has a similar issue, but since it is a larger diameter it does not create as much of a nuisance as the smaller intake hose. C. The flow direction arrows on the pump housing are large, but barely visible since they are the same color as the housing. Why can't they be made black or another contrasting color? D. At least this pump came with an instruction sheet. Most items I buy like this do not come with any instructions at all. However, the instruction sheet has but one substantive illustration, but it is so small as to be useless. Diagrams or photos needed, especially for assembly. E. The alligator clips on the battery cable are too close together for a regular size auto battery. I had to strip back the outer jacket to get enough spread between them to attach them to the battery cables. On the positive side the flow volume was OK for changing ATF thru the dip stick tube. It took about 3 or 4 minutes to pump about 3-4 pints of ATF. ... show more
