The media could not be loaded. The first one that came in was loud and scratched my game in a full circle. (See video and image) Was then sent a replacement that also made noises and did not load games at all. I am not sure what refurbished company Amazon uses for this but it is not working out well for them. The slim version of the PS2 is still the greatest console ever made. It's an improvement of the first wide console which had a high failure rate and cost customers a lot of money. The console has the largest library of any kind ever, and is backward compatible with Original Playstation games, in all too many games for a casual gamer to have time for in one lifetime. My purchase has already given me hours of bliss playing old games I should never have let go. The game Deus Ex: The Conspiracy is especially relevant now; plagues, conspiracies and artificial intelligence are brought into play in a story you'll never forget. The Madden and WWE games were far more fun, there were no microtransactions and single player games were private, and all genres were full of greatest hits as well as underrated titles. Somehow games were more immersive and fun. Medal of Honor was still good, platformers were at their best, and though some titles have had or are getting remakes and remasters, not enough are. To play a PS One game, remember to have a suitable memory card unless you plan on doing speed runs. You can't use the PS2 memory card for original Playstation games. If you remember, or never had the sheer pleasure of using this amazing console, do it. You will not see the mind-blowing graphics of the PS4 or 5, but forget that and get lost in great gameplay. AMAZON and the Renewal Company ROCK 30 games should be embarrassed for allowing this PS2 to leave their doors and be shipped out. If customers are paying $200 plus dollars for this, you should at least clean the system out of the nasty brown mold that is inside. (Photos of disc tray)That is probably skin cells from the last owners that have been sitting there for the past 10 years. I can’t imagine what the inside looks like. On top of that the system that I received has a issue with possibility the disc tray or disc reader that is not allowing the system to properly read the disc that is causing the system to freeze and music skips. I tested the system out on several games for a couple hours and they all the same issues. I even went as far as to test my discs on another friends system and the discs work fine. So it’s the system and was not probably renewed. I’m working now to get a replacement or refund so I can have it properly repaired and clean out like it should have been. I hate writing reviews like this but man the renewal company should of never let this be sent out like this what a terrible experience ... show more

Recently bought Barn Yard and Baldurs Gate for ps2 so this was a quick nice alternative to paying a couple hundred in store. Didnt register disc at first but took two seconds to fix that problem. No scratches on discs and runs great so far, only used twice now but have high hopes.

Trying to see if i can contact the seller, but I am NOT happy. I bought this about 4 months ago along with 3 PS2 games. X-Men Legends, X-Men Legends 2, and Champions of Norrath. Worked great, until today. I turned the consol on to play one of the games and it said "Unable to Read Disc". I opened the dic tray and saw a trace amount of a white powdery substance. I removed the disc and there is a scratch ring all around the disc which was the source of the powder. I checked the other two games, and they have the same ring. Now I can't play any of them! ... show more
