My nine-year-old granddaughter is into making things from the clay and she wanted to toolset I did not want to buy her one of the great big ones that she would lose parts too because she never remembers where she put stop or she walked away with something in her hand and then loses it I bought her the smaller set and didn't tell her that there was a bigger one available ha ha. My 5yo had just gotten into clay shaping and sculpting, so these plastic tools were a safe choice. There are two (pink handled, I think) that have an edge that can be used for slicing, but are blunt enough to be safe for a kindergartener. Unfortunately, one or two of the tools had the ends pull out of the handles, and had to be glued back together, so I docked this product one star for that issue. Some of the tools are flimsy and pop out extremely easily. After some regular use, the 'shell' attachment broke off, and some of the dotting tools seem to dislike staying within their plastic casing, and pop out with little provocation, though they pop right back in easily. If you intend to buy a basic 'starter kit' for clay tooling and are weighing your options, this is a decent option. I'm especially fond of the needle tools (they're sturdy), the 'spatula' like tool for blending liquid clay and solid clay colors, and the dotting tools, even with their frail tendencies. 9/22/17 EDIT: I was contacted by the seller and offered a replacement set for the tools that had broken. I tested all of the new tools to see if they would as easily pop out of their plastic casing, but they remained in place (although not without some wiggling). The second set is satisfactory and seems much more durable than the first. ... show more

The tool pictured above second in from the left broke the first day using it. My tween daughter was using the sharp triangular edge to try to cut a small piece of clay off and the triangle piece snapped right off. I'm not sure how it would be fixable. EDITED: The company contacted me after I left this review and offered to send me a whole new set to replace the other one that broke. I appreciated the offer. Definitely good customer service. I don't think my daughter is going to use that piece to cut large chunks of clay in the future as we don't want it to break again. Maybe her clay is especially hard? It's our first experience with clay. She does enjoy the other pieces for shaping and making designs and impressions in her clay projects. Changing my review to 4 stars (previously 3). ... show more

You aren't going to do fine sculpting with these. But, if you have a six year old that has declared that she's the next Nerdy Crafter or Mariah Elizabeth, and she's got her hands on a pile of assorted doughs and clays, these are perfect. Easy for her to handle, sturdy enough to hold up to her, assorted shapes and tips to experiment with, and unfortunately pointy enough to drill a hole through a brand-new pair of leggings. Two holes, honestly. This is a good addition to any clay for a younger kid. At 12 or so they'll likely want thinner and more grown-up tools, but for elementary, these are excellent. ... show more

We got air dry modeling clay for our daughters for Christmas and I thought these would be great to go with them. We borrowed some fun modeling clay design books from the library and they’ve made all sorts of different creatures. These tools have helped quite a bit to make different textures/designs on the animals like scales and feathers. I think they’re worth getting for any crafty kid that uses modeling clay. ... show more
