Huge caveat: I’m not the intended audience. I tried to use this as a semi-permanent outdoor workspace on my deck, and that’s really not what it’s designed for. It’s absolutely huge — much larger than I expected — and it also needs a rigid board surface (not included) to be truly functional as a work platform. Without that, it’s more of a support frame than a usable desk. That said, it’s super well made, sturdy, and affordable, and it does exactly what it claims for jobsite/shop use. If you understand the size and intended purpose, it’s a solid product — just not a fit for my particular setup. ... show more

Hi, this is Karen, the Mrs. We ordered under my husband's account but I'm using this desk. I have some arthritis so I was concerned about the weight of the desk once boards were inserted. I ordered it anyway. Upon a moment of inspiration, I went to our local home-improvement store and got 3 sheets of corrugated plastic board by the name of "Genesis Opal," model number 708-02, which measure 23.75" x 47.75". It is a somewhat bendy material. So I went straight to our local craft store and got rather large foamboard that I could cut down (used a coupon too). At home, I used an X-Acto knife to score the foamboard to the same dimensions as the corrugated plastic boards. I bent back and forth along each cut, then finished cutting with scissors. For the bottom, I sandwiched one foamboard between two corrugated plastic sheets (this provides some rigidity), rounded the corners with a pair of scissors, and inserted this type of board sandwich in both top and bottom. Again, I'm only using this for very lightweight purposes. Works like a charm! The corrugated plastic is guaranteed shatterproof for 10 years. The whole desk now weighs close to 11 pounds. Finally, I took a sharpie marker in copper and wrote "do not bend" in both sides of the outside. On the inside I wrote "do not bend" and "for lightweight use only." I was done in minutes. I got this because my bedroom is my office and leisure space and craft area all in one. The desk does NOT come with inserts, it is just the fabric part—I suspect a piece of foam posterboard would suffice for most people, but I happened upon a piece of plywood in the garage that fits and makes me feel extra secure. I like that I can flip this up and Velcro it shut, though I leave it down most of the time. Supports my laptop, a book or two, a second hard surface for my mouse, and a drink with coaster. The wires can be fed in from the side, so if I remove the drink I can close my laptop and slide it to the back, then Velcro it shut with the laptop still inside. I don’t think it would be very portable, in spite of the name, because you have to hang hooks to put it up on. The pockets up top are nice, especially since I can hang my phone from one to use as a webcam during Zoom calls. The rest have an assortment of crafting supplies and little things I forgot to give out at Christmas 😅 My family makes fun of it, but I was able to attend a webinar, cast some resin gifts, edit a video, and play a video game all on the same surface, so I think it’s doing very well! ... show more

I've used these for a few years now and love them so much I finally bought one of my own. Really happy with it except one thing, the one I got is a inch and a quarter smaller than advertised. Which makes the surface wrinkle and I gotta move the nails closer in on the studs when hanging it. Maybe made on a Friday? Anyway, still works. ... show more
