  • Clear and crisp with a gray refresh rate, at a budget price
I actually bought two of these monitors to use for a PC. I still don't have a PC for them.. but they're not just gathering dust. Ok, one is. I use the other for my XBOX Series X. The built in speakers aren't overly loud, so it doesn't wake up my kids when I'm playing games. I've got the graphics set to optimize the Series X and let me tell you, I've got a TV that cost a lot more than these and advertised better refresh rates and graphics, but I truly believe these are visually superior. Price 8/10 stars There are others that advertise the same specs for way more. I've used one of their flat screens in a portable gaming unit for 6 years and still works perfectly. I've more than gotten my money out of that one, and and getting my money out of this one. Graphics 9/10 stars I know there's better out there, possibly in a comparable price range, but I haven't found them. The colors are crisp, vivid and the refresh rate pairs extremely well with a series X. Overall 9/10 stars, i would recommend this monitor every day and twice on Saturday. I don't believe you can beat the clarity or quality for anywhere near the price. ... show more

  • It's a great value for a 165Hz 1440p Monitory, but not without some trade-offs
tl;dr PC: Really nice, but make sure your video card can keep up. tl;dr XBOX: Not the best choice. Do your homework and don't do what I did. I'll start by saying that connected to both my Mac and PC, I'm getting a brilliant 2560x1440 image running at 165Hz with Freesync enabled. That's where the party kinda ends though. My PC is about 3 years old (Lenovo C730 Gaming Cube) equipped with an RTX 2070. My previous screen was also a 2K monitor, but only ran at 75Hz. The card handled that without issue during gaming, but it's almost impossible to run at 165hz without having the fans on 100% and occasional lag spikes. Turning it down to 144Hz (or even 120Hz) helps tremendously. I'm sure if I upgrade to a 3000/4000 series card, that will go away, but the banker tells me I need to wait to make that investment. :) But overall, with the right settings on the monitor it's great. The joystick control takes some getting used to, and sometimes if I try to manually select an input it simply turns off. I typically keep it on Auto Input (Mac/PC on the DP1/2, and Xbox on the HDMI) and it's good -- I just have to turn off everything else for it to trigger what I want to display. XBOX on the other hand is an absolute disaster, in my honest opinion. Up front, I have the Xbox One X and the Xbox Series S. I've also had an initial short run with the Xbox Series X, but it was defective and had to be sent back to Microsoft. My experience with all three has pretty much been the same or similar enough. The Xbox sees it as a 4K monitor (even though it's not), and will let you turn on HDR but not Dolby Vision. Pixio's own website states under the Console Compatability section that it will only run 1080p with HDR and VRR and up to 120Hz (if the game supports it, keep in mind most are still 60Hz if not X|S Optimized). The problem I have is that a static image is typically good looking, but once you are swinging around your first person and world views, it gets pixelated and appears to motion blur or even tear quickly. I have played on multiple other monitors and TVs and don't recall it ever looking this bad. It could be some of the games that I frequent (Rocket League, Diablo 4, Division 2) but it just looks terrible. I tried Halo Infinite thinking it would be the best optimized on the Series X|S and it's just as bad compared to my PC. Starfield only runs at 60Hz, and it's pretty ugly. I'm well past my return window and I guess that I had hopes that they would push out a firmware update to beef up the capabilities. That's not happened, which is sad. It's possible the Pixio 277 PRO is a better deal, as it can run the Xbox consoles at 1440p and 120Hz, plus there are a few extras like the USB C connection, USB A mini hub, RJ45, and built-in speakers -- but I couldn't justify an additional $150 for it. I may just have to write off the console world for a while and save up for a better RTX card. ... show more
