  • Fantastic headphones with a great flat response.
Color: Red Style: Headphones
I am really enjoying these headphones, it's great to finally have a pair of decent headphones to mix with. Having done numerous sound quality tests on them and running them through a few Dj sets I gotta say that you won't be disappointed especially for the price. Some quick notes. Good Great sound quality and frequency range. They are much sturdier than they appear and I suspect ill have these for a long time. Changeable earpads and the super long coil cable. Bluetooth, yay Even though these headphones are more durable than I expected, I do feel that if I was gigging every weekend for a year that these wouldn't really cut it in terms of durability. I do find these a little small for my ears, and as a result, they do put some mild pressure on my ears resulting in some discomfort after about 3 hours of use. Take that for what it is. Ultimately you cannot go wrong with these if you are looking for some reliable quality DJ headphones. If you are the type of Dj that is gigging on the regular then I do suggest picking up headphones one tier higher than these as I suspect these may not last too long out in gig land. ... show more

These headphones are much smaller than i expected. They have a good build quality & sound but for some reason feel as if they were made for women or kids...

  • Portable, snazzy looking, good sound, deep and tight bass, comfort a real problem
Color: Red Style: Headphones
I just got the RED version of the CUE1BT Pioneer headphones this past weekend from IDJNOW on LI NY, firstly because an actual Pro. DJ I follow online recommended them, and also, because I wanted to support a vital and fantastic local business for the holidays and during a most difficult year, and got a great deal on them from IDJNOW, who are the finest DJ and pro. audio retailer in the tri-state area, basically. So you know I'm not being paid by anyone and didn't even get them from Amazon, as usual. I want to start by saying to keep in mind that they're not fully burned-in yet, but, that the CUE1BT are good, well-built, affordable pro. DJ headphones that can go wired or wireless, and have good, if dry (warm but not super warm), sound, but that the comfort level is NOT great. I've read other pro. reviews that mention this, the fit is either very tight or loose, but I was experiencing some awful pressure on my ears after an hour or so of use, and I couldn't seem to alleviate it. I had similar issues with the Pioneer HDX7s I purchased a year or more ago, and which sounded rather dull and flat, even via a good amplifier. Pioneer needs to rethink their earpad and fit designs to increase comfort for longer listening sessions. Otherwise, I am enjoying them and the tight bass sound signature of the CUE1BTs. They look great, they are made reasonably well even though not much metal in the build here, they are budget, entry-level DJ phones. They look sharp without being gaudy, and are compact and fold for travel, not bulky, but do not come with a case. I'm not sure if the pads are replaceable, but I have a feeling that putting some larger custom pads on these, if possible, will alleviate the discomfort factor. I compared these to my older Sony XB500 over the ear extra bass wired headphones, and the Sony's sound better and have more bass, and also are super comfortable for hours on end, honestly. Even the newer Sony X10 XBass wired cans (the "Simon Cowell" models) are tons more comfortable, a bit more bulky, but have better and more bass, and a crisper sound signature, if I'm being honest about it. If the Sony X10s had BT, they would be even better, but I'm not sure if they still offer them that way. The comfort level is lacking, that's the main problem I have with these thus far. Maybe they will relax over time, I'm not sure. This is a problem especially if you're buying these for actual DJing, or walking, running, or long-duration listening. I usually don't experience discomfort or pressure with most headhones or IEMs, so it's unlikely it's my head shape or whatever. I also bought Fostex RP40 planar studios and dynamic headphones that don't have any discomfort issues, but neither offer Bluetooth, of course. Also, the BT sound levels are a bit low on any device, they only go to a certain "acceptable" loud sound level before being cut off, it didn't matter what limit level or not I had set on the IPhone 8 I am running them on. I highly recommend running these through a separate amplifier, headphone or otherwise, since they sounded 100x better via my Fiio headphone amp and Fiio lossless media player (wired). BT is very convenient, but it will not elicit the best sound quality, that's proven. I can recommend these snazzy DJ cans, as long as you don't mind they don't quite sound as good as Pioneer's upper tier, or they don't cause you such discomfort as they have caused me already. However, I've also been told that some of Sony's DJ cans are a bit uncomfortable over a long period of time, the only ones that aren't are probably Sennheiser, or maybe Beats, although I don't like the latter very much. The older Sony wired DJ and Xtra Bass cans are to be sought after, because they are super comfortable, and really just sound superior to the Pioneers. The Pioneers don't sound bad, they sound quite good, but they are dry and a bit analytical even, and less comfy, than the older Sonys, etc. I cannot comment on the newer Sonys of similar sound signatures or DJ applications. You can DJ with pro. Sony Professional MDRs and things like that, as an old friend of mine did for years, but, they aren't BT, and they usually are voiced FLAT and lack any real bass, so one has to weigh what one is really buying these for, DJING, monitoring, or just pleasure listening. If you really want to DJ, mix, or monitor, I would consider AKG, Sony, better Pioneers, or Sennheiser or Fostex, before these entry-level type DJ cans. For sheer fun, these are a decent choice. I would recommend these for beginner DJs, house music and dance music enthusiasts in particular, and people who want a pro DJ sound portable headphone on a budget and aren't willing to shell out say, $400 for Pioneer's top-range pro. cans. As for the bass here, it's deep, tight, but not as massive as Beats, say, and much more controlled. The mids and highs are respectable, but the highs are somewhat recessed and restrained, but they aren't harsh at all. If you want DJ cans or IEMS that are for the gym, running, walking, etc., I would look more for XBass IEMs, Beats, Linsouls, etc., that are made more for that purpose, especially for long-duration comfort, which these severely lack. Even most of the Audio-Technica studio phones, which I'm not a huge fan of due to lack of bass, flat response, and highs harshness tendencies (though some love them), have much better comfort out of the box than these Pioneer DJ cans. If you don't expect brain-eating bass, you might consider the ATs instead, at least the Bluetooth ones. Overall I'm enjoying the Pioneer CUE1BT Reds, but I just wish the comfort and design were more ergonomic. If I sell them, it's due strictly to this deficiency. ... show more
