  • SOLID, QUALITY product! 15-Year DJ Veteran Approved!
Style: DDJ-800
Coming from using the same 2x Pioneer CDJ 800 MK2's purchased in 2008 and a mint Pioneer DJM 450 (2017), I must say... This unit blows my DJM 450 AND those old (But still beloved) CDJ 800 MK2's OUT OF THE WATER!!! The overall build is real solid. Heavy and feels professional, sturdy and the furthest from cheap. A mix of thick, high quality plastic and brushed aluminum on the jog wheel platters and completely encompassing each jog wheel section. The mixer sounds, feels and performs better than the DJM 450! The 450 is already an incredible, high performance $699 mixer as is! The DDJ 800's mixer is FAR SUPERIOR in my opinion of DJing for 15 years. Many more FX, Faders and even the CF feels so much better, without the Magvel! You can adjust SO MUCH in Rekordbox's menus. You can even change the color FX preset buttons! Rekordbox lets you deeply customize this thing! The jog wheels aren't mechanical, but honestly feel BETTER to me than the CDJ 800 MK2's and up do, IMHO. The jog adjust knob is really nice and lets you choose between a lighter, more floaty jog.. or a firm, very professional quality/feeling one.. The play/cue buttons feel better than on a new pair of CDJ's, no joke! The tops of the jogs are very high quality brushed aluminum that feel almost like glass, like silk.. Going from mechanical to reactive wheels took little time to get used to.. The 800's jogs are tight and on point! I am very surprised on how tight and firm the jogs are at 12 O'clock or even on the lightest setting. Very nice all around! The performance pads are insanely and deeply customizeable. I can't even begin to get into how deep they get. Between the hot cue/FX/beat jump and everything.. it'll take quite awhile to customize this unit to your exact liking.. But it was worth it when I finally got it just right. Rekordbox isn't too bad at all. A simple program that lets me access thousands of tracks acquired over the years at the simple turn/click of a dial. Overall, being an old school DJ learning on vinyl, mastering on CDJ's and now with this incredible piece of equipment, I couldn't be happier. It takes a veteran DJ awhile to go from discs to a program, but I'm on my PC all day anyway. I have been using Mixxx for many years now as a tool to test tracks at different bpm's and test before burning to CD, so if you have any familiarity to any of the other DJ software out there, then I'd say you'd be like me and pick it up moderately easy. I HIGHLY recommend this and I was lucky to get one at $775 (Before Tax) before the promotion from Pioneer was over on 12/31. (If you're wondering why you're seeing them at $899 now.) I would STILL get one even at $899!!! You seriously cannot beat the performance and quality for the price. This thing is AMAZING! It feels so solid and I couldn't be happier with how much more my mixing capabilities and parameters have increased! Also, I'm retired from paying gigs, but this thing rocked a house party it's 2nd night out of the box and is perfect for home use too! Unless you HAVE to have mechanical jogs, 4 channels and barely anything else of significance, then I would give you my 100% recommendation to just buy the DDJ 800 first, ask/think about things after.. ... show more

  • Everything a DJ has to have.
Style: DDJ-800
Background: Club & Rave DJ since 2002 - previous setup: Technic MKIIs + Numark 3001X + Serato. 7 year break from last time I owned a setup. Serato vs Rekordbox: This feels like a non issue. I cut my teeth on on Serato somewhere around 1.2 (Current is somewhere around 2.0). I also recently purchased the DDR-SB3, but found I needed more. While Serato has come a long way, even with DJ Lite that came with the SB3, Rekordbox feels like it's step in step - I have not noticed any differences that would have made me regret the switch. What you may not know is Rekordbox can set you up to be plug & play with the club standard CDJs. The cosmetics of Rekordbox could be the only applicable difference and as I've been streaming 5 days a week for the last 6 weeks, there hasn't been one single jump in my relearning curve that I've had to make. They feel _very_ close to each other. DDJ-800 vs DDJ-xxx The biggest difference I have noticed between jumping from the $200 tier to $800 is honestly the size of the pitch/tempo fader. The tempo fader on the DDJ-SB3 is extremely short @ about 1/3 the length on the DDJ-800, and depending on your genre, that can make a difference. For me, it just wasn't enough wiggle room, and the sensitivity was way too high on that short of a track. While I could spin a set on the SB3 - I have better ability to successfully match quickly with a more customizable fader, which this one has. The 3 modes it has also adds to that wonderfully. I have not yet jumped into all of the pad's or sampler, but all of the effects, faders, & pots all are very smooth and high quality. I'm used to a kill switch, on the EQs, and while these don't kill completely, they do effectively handle the EQ work that needs to be done, to construct your sets well. The construction is firm & solid while more than likely being able to handle the riggers of the road well. The lower price point SB3 felt far more plastic. Overall, I would still be a price taker at the price point it's been listed at. The value is there even at full price. Its going to hold up, it's going to tackle most situations you can through at it, and the jog wheels feel like they are well put together. I highly recommend this piece of gear. ... show more

  • Great product for a cheap price!
Style: DDJ-200
This DJ controller is perfect for beginners and people just wanting to mix up some music! This controller is lightweight and very compact. It is perfect to just throw in a backpack and take on the go. The app is perfect but is a little hard to use if you don’t fully understand it. Once, you go through the tutorial, it makes it so much easier. ... show more

  • Alot of bang for your buck!
Style: DDJ-REV1
As a vinyl turntablist, I bought this controller as a backup unit to practice ane play around with in case my main control vinyl setup were to go down before or during a gig. I must say all the features in this mixer are amazing, easy to use, fun, and are plug and play. This thing plugs right in and works flawlessly with serato. For the price point and what you get this controller is awesome. As a vinyl scratch and performance House music DJ I love it, except for the fact its not a turntable and its small jogs make scratching and backspinning very difficult compared to what I'm used to. Even compared to CDJs which I also own. Not to say you can't scratch or perform tricks because you totally can, but just for my own personal preference I prefer bigger platters or jogs with adjustable tension so I'm only giving 4 out of 5stars for that reason along with inability to run analog thru the mixer portion of it. Otherwise, this is one helluva value packed piece of equipment! So if your looking for an entry level controller, I highly recommend this one. It compares to more expensive models, its battle style, it gives you everything you need to learn all the basics and gives you nothing you dont or won't need. Cheers!
