The shelves are decent. Easy set up and install. The instructions say use a 5/16 drill bit but don't do that. Just us a 1/4 drill bit and swivel in the hole a bit so you can fit the dry wall anchor. Otherwise if you use the larger set, the anchor tends to move slightly versus having it flush and secure.

The wood is light weight - lighter than pine. The black wood stain is attractive, but it is only a color stain that can wear off with use or light sanding. Water, oil, and liquid would seep in and cause undesirable staining. The remedy is easy - apply 1-2 coats of clear polyurethane with a disposable foam brush. I didn't like the shiny silver screws that looked white against the black metal braces. I bought screws that were a darker color.

Good little shelves that are aesthetically pleasing. They are your typical Amazon/China made crap. Expect some cosmetic differences, missing hardware and poorly translated instructions. Assembly and installation is pretty straight forward if you are even just a little mechanically inclined. Both times I've ordered these they have been missing hardware, and this last time(which prompted this review) was missing a bracket entirely so I could only assemble 2 of the shelves. They are decently sturdy but would recommend using stronger, better quality wall anchors if you intend to put heavier items such as liquor bottles on them.

Can't understand why they send out unpainted screws that are fully visible once you install the shelf. Talk about ugly. Nicely stained wood, black hardware and shiny silver screws. Now I have to go find screws to fit and find black ones or paint others.

I'm not a handy-woman type of gal pal, and I bought these knowing full well I'd have to pull on something deep within me to put these together decently. After taking it out of the box and reading the instructions and seeing that I would have to drill into the wall, I had a fear deep within my soul that left the box sitting for months. I finally got a power drill and pulled a level out of the old handy tool bag and decided to tackle the project. For anyone using a powerdrill, have a normal screwdriver handy to finish the tightening because I found my power drill was too big to effectively tighten the shelf assembly all the way. I would also suggest getting one of those metal in the wall locators because I most definitely hit one while drilling into the wall, and THANKFULLY I was able to go over a tad bit to miss the metal and still be close enough to fit the shelves on. I will say the assembly was decently easy and the instructions were simple to follow. It did take me a few days to finish since I wanted to be 100% motivated to do everything correctly and not rush it and mess up. Approved by my German Shepherd puppy girl :)
