  • T5505, Earbuds with stem- I really wanted to like them...
Firstly, this review pertains specifically to model number TAT5505, the 5000 series earbuds which have the stem and are listed at $99 at the time of writing this review. Amazon has chosen to mix the reviews for these T5505s and the next step up in Philip's line together for some bizarre reason- about what I've come to expect from this website. I found very little about these earbuds online apart from Philips' own website, but the spec list and price makes them seem like exactly what I'm looking for so I decided to take a gamble and give them a shot anyways. Despite this lack of preexisting information, I still trusted Philips to make a decent product considering many of their other cheaper audio offerings. What I did not expect was the earbuds being non-functional straight out of the box. That's right, they didn't work even a single time despite dozens of attempts on my part now. I've ensured the case is fully charged and left the earbuds in it more than long enough to receive a full charge between each attempt, but I've had no success. According to the LED indicator explanations in the manual I found on Philips' website, my right earbud turns on as it should when removed from the case but is already paired to a bluetooth device. It is able to accurately recognize when I put it in my ear and I can hear faint white noise to indicate that the bud is powering on correctly. The left earbud doesn't indicate that it charges in the case, and instead turns on when I place it in. It also shows that it is already paired to a bluetooth device, and immediately turns off when removed from the case. As such, the left earbud is completely non-functional. Here is where I pretty much lost all hope for these earbuds: As far as I can tell based on the admittedly lacking documentation provided by Philips, both earbuds need to be turned on outside of the case in order to reset the bluetooth memory, so I can't even do so much as remove the existing bluetooth device (whatever that may be) and attempt to pair my own. I had hoped to at least get one bud working so that I could take a quick listen and decide if pursuing a replacement over a refund would be worthwhile, but with how convoluted the input scheme for the buds are and how poor the provided documentation is I have no interest in trying again. These are a solid miss for me, Philips, and I couldn't even get as far as listening to them. ... show more

  • I cant even pair them to any device. I Need help or a refund.
I had in the past a lot of bluetooth earphones, earbuds, headsets, etc. And for some reason im not sure if one of them are broken, bad software, I DONT KNOW, when I open the lid and press search for new devices they dont appear... I tried with an ipad, an android phone and my desktop PC with bluetooth. Not sure what to do. Also they are no youtube videos about it wich is weird and the buds nor the case have buttons to press or anything. Also only 1 of the 2 buds have a led blue light when I open the case. ... show more

  • Would not pair with any devices
First order would not pair. The buds never entered pairing mode (indicated by alternating blue and white flashes, according to the manual which does NOT come wit LG the product. Philips only ships an Ikea-like series of pictographs.) Ordered a 2nd set. They wouldn't pair either. Went straight into a flashing white light mode, indicating they were not connected to Bluetooth.   • Would not connect to Bluettoth devices
The simple instructions showed how to pair this device but it would not pair with any of the devices I tried. I called customer support and they walked me through how to "make the lights randomly flash both blue and white". Whatever was tried, the ear budss would only flash white so would not enter pairing mode. They have been returned for a refund and I will find a different manufacturer's produxt to buy. ... show more

  • They may be amazing but we will never know!!
Much like everyone else on here I couldn't get them to connect to anything nor could I get the app to move beyond the second prompt screen rendering it completely useless and no help what-so-ever. After resetting them a couple times and still getting nowhere I put them back in their box and began the return. I may try another pair of Phillips earbuds but this was extremely disappointing from such a big and experienced electronics corporation.
