This is a BODY TRIMMER ONLY and the directions state quite clearly that this should not be used on face or beard. As far as I understand this is the follow-up of the popular Philips Norelco BG2040/49. The design is very modern and well executed. It does not come with a stand like the BG2040/49. It can easily lay on its side or on its face. I've only used this device a couple of times, but it works great so far, no cuts or nicks in the skin. The metal you see isn't real metal but plastic with a metal coating making it feel a little cheap. Unfortunately I can't compare the performance of this item with other similar devices, but it does excellent at what is is supposed to do, making this an excellent buy. Not sure whether this version has huge improvements over the previous version BG2040/49, personally I find the design of this new version a little more modern.

Excellent quality, battery life, ergonomics. This shaver does work quite well in hard to reach areas. Works very well wet with shaving cream. Works well of every area except beware. Be very careful of the edge trimmers on either side of foil head! Although this is an overall delicate machine, these edge trimmers WILL snag and cut your skin if you are manscaping your balls. I was pretty disappointed that this occurs since it's what almost everyone needs it for. But if you work slowly and carefully to not drag the leading edge trimmer forward INTO your skin, it won't bite. Instead, Keep the foil part in contact, and let the trailing edge trimmer drag behind and it wont bite you.

If you guys want a personal body trimmer this is the best! Worth the cost - trims body hair and personal groin area. You have NO cuts or burns using this trimmer. I highly recommend and keep you body hair under control and neat!

This trimmer does a great job, but you better read the instructions and follow them to the letter. The trimmer side has a length range from 11 to 3. I didn't pay attention the first time I tried it (it was set to 3 out of the box). It took me 5 seconds to realize I was doing something seriously wrong, because it was literally ripping hair out instead of cutting it. Ouch. Switched to 11, the longest length. Worked great. Slowly kept reducing the length one notch at a time. Also great. The other "shaver" end though. Meh. Kinda sucks. Use the clipper end to get everything really short, then finish up with a regular razor if you want to go that smooth. That razor end is really bitey.

I really don't know how this thing is 70 bucks. It is utter garbage. This has to be one of the loudest trimmers out there. It sounds like a hedge trimmer. Battery life is less than advertised too. I've only manage to get about 20 minutes before it's asking to be recharged. I've only had about 2 cycles on the battery too? The foil shaver side is completely useless. It pulls and tugs hairs even when going very slowly. The trimmer(s) to the top and bottom of the foil shaver also cut poorly. The other side of this is ok at best. The adjustable length is nice, but still cuts poorly and is easy to move the length accidentally. This will cut you too. Yes I know how to shave. I've since thrown this piece of garbage away as my 10 year old plug in Wahl trimmer that was 30 bucks cuts much better.

Overall it works, but you still have to be careful. Got a little too confident and still managed to nick myself in the sensitive area. Bought this over some of the other options due to the reviews saying it’s foolproof and let me tell you, it’s NOT. Need to take it gently, but it works. FYI - This thing is like pulling a hedger out of the garage. Thought it would be much smaller, but it definitely takes up some serious real estate in the bathroom drawer. Already have one shaver for my face, now I got this contraption too. Starting to feel like a woman with all my bathroom “tools”.

I liked the old version of this, but always had issues charging it. It would take a whole day to charge, and run out of juice in 10 min due to NiCd batteries. This one has lithium batteries that last 80 min and takes just an hour to charge. It always does not have that annoying charging cradle, and comes with a standard cord that plugs into it. The foil end is also less abrasive. The only neg from the previous version is that the body is entirely plastic, where the old one had a mostly metal body and felt higher quality.
