  • Actually makes a difference
Color: Purple Size: Series 9000 + 9 Accessories
Maybe I just have a tendency toward raggedy places, but I've found that waxing usually results in layers of my skin being ripped off and looking even more horrifying than the hair originally did. This is the perfect alternative! I've mainly used it on my face (which the directions say NOT to do), and I'm really happy with the results. I assume they don't want you using the epilator on your face because of the large treatment head, but it's peach fuzz too light and fine for laser hair removal that I want to remove, so I do it anyway, knowing that it'll be my own fault if something goes wrong. Using the epilator is pretty straightforward, just read the instructions. I only use it on dry skin/hair because trying to do it wet would flatten the hairs so they can't be grabbed. It's definitely unpleasant the first time - it made my face and neck muscles tense up enough to give me a headache. Hopping in the shower afterward relaxed everything though, and I applied The Ordinary's Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% to my face afterward to kill any bacteria that might try to sneak into my now-open pores and cause a breakout, then a moisturizer on top of that. This approach worked for me. My face was definitely really red after epilating (though my skin always get red easily), so I was really glad I waited until bedtime to do it, but I looked fine the next morning. The device was way more effective than I expected and it was really satisfying to see the little collection of fuzz start to accumulate on the treatment head. I had to move it slowly and go over areas a few different times, but the light is helpful and you can tell it's working because the quantity of hair available to be yanked out noticeably decreases, so the first pass is biting, but then you start to feel less and less on subsequent passes because there's no more (or very little) hair left to grab. I used it again 3-4 days later to do a clean-up and it was a similar experience - areas I'd completely missed the first go-around were briefly painful, but the rest was fine because there were only random strays still there. I'm hoping that with consistent use, it'll continue to be a low- and no-pain experience because I'm not waiting until every single hair has grown back in. Cleaning the epilating head is tough because all you can really do is rinse it and it has tons of little teeth for the hair to stay stuck in (and then you have to leave it out for all those teeth to dry), but at the end of the day it's effective and that's the most important thing to me. I don't have any use or interest in the other attachments in this set, but as my first epilator experience, I'm really happy with this tool. ... show more

  • EXCELLENT at removing hair with minimal discomfort!
Color: Purple Size: Series 9000 + 9 Accessories
I have had mixed results when using epilators. I tried one that was fairly good and not very painful but some of the others that I have tried.... OUCH!! They literally made it feel like each individual hair was being ripped out slowly. It was awful! The epilator that I had a good experience with was also from the Philips brand so I was optimistic about this one, too. The design is simple, straightforward, and easy to understand. I love the purple color! It comes with several different interchangeable accessories to tackle all of your hair removal needs. The fact that it is waterproof is AWESOME! It makes the process go a lot smoother (no pun intended) when you can soften your skin a bit first. The hair definitely seems to be removed easier and less painfully. It is comfortable to hold in my hand and doesn't get slippery when wet. I'm sure the question on most people's minds when reading these reviews is "does it hurt?" This is going to vary from person to person depending on their pain tolerance. I thought it was a bit painful the first few times I used it. Not excruciating pain or anything. I never felt like I needed to stop or take a break from it. It's the same feeling you get when you pull out a nose hair, though. That instant sting that can be quite unpleasant. Imagine that times the number of hairs on your legs. Ouch! The pain definitely subsides over time, I guess you just get used to it. The battery life is about average. It is rechargeable and comes with a charging cable. One charge lasts around an hour or so, give or take. I was impressed by how well the hair is removed. I have tried epilators that required hair to be quite long before they could grab them. That isn't the case with this one. I only let my leg hair grow for a few days and I was thinking there would be no way it would grab those tiny hairs. It did! The LED light is a nice added bonus! It really does help show which areas you missed or which spots still need some work. I thought the inclusion of the other heads makes this product so much more versatile and a better value, too. I probably would never use the rotating brush but the others are practical. The foot file helps remove the dry skin from my heels with ease. The shaver head turns the epilator into an electric shaver and the bikini trimmer is great for narrower areas. Overall, I felt this was an excellent product and one that I would definitely recommend. If you hate manual shaving and are hoping to stretch out the time in between shaving sessions, give it a try. :) ... show more

  • Something for Everyone! Something for Everyone!
Color: Purple Size: Series 9000 + 9 Accessories
This is a review of the Series 9000 variation. First, props to it for being in my favorite color, purple. Ok, but seriously, although this is sold as an epilator, it is so much more, to the point where personally, I would have named it differently. I mean, it IS an epilator, but it is also an electric razor, bikini line shaver, foot file, and scrubber when you swap out the device head. Plus, it operates wet or dry. I ordered this because I have wanted to try an epilator for a long time, but was too chicken because I'd heard it really hurt, and I was glad to have other options with this one if I ultimately decided epilation wasn't for me. And now that I know it does indeed hurt, I am definitely grateful to have plenty of other options to get good use out of this device while I gradually work up to using the epilator head more and more. That, to me, is the key feature, that there's "something for everyone," i.e. there's lots of options for using this, even if some of them aren't of interest to a particular person. The light is a great feature by the way, as it really helps visualize the skin surface and hair. The device was well protected in the box, and every accessory came protected in its own little pouch. It also comes with a pouch to store the device and all its accessories; it's nothing fancy, but is a nice inclusion. At $150, this device isn't cheap. But, the way I look at it, if I were to buy an epilator, and an electric razor, and a bikini line shaver, and a foot file, and an electric scrubber, I'd be paying much more than $150. Plus, Philips is of course a quality, reputable brand. Taking all of this into account, I do think it's worth the financial investment. ... show more

  • Great for a first time epilator user Great for a first time epilator user
Color: Purple Size: Series 9000 + 9 Accessories
I’m new to epilators; I was previously a dedicated shaver. I decided to give this epilator a try because it wasn’t horribly expensive and had a ton of other attachments. I like that it’s rechargeable and can be used wet or dry. I have only tried it dry so far though. Being new to epilating, I’m taking it slow and starting with smaller areas on less sensitive leg skin before diving into the underarm and bikini area. I’m hoping to reduce how often I need to do hair removal, as I had been shaving near daily. My skin is prone to redness, irritation and eczema. So far on my lower legs I haven’t had any irritation from the epilator. I use the attachment that holds skin taught and has a nice light on it. I waited to use it until after hair had grown out for a week and a half. I showered and do not use lotion or anything ahead of time. Yes, there is some slight pain from the plucking, but it wasn’t horrible so far. Amazingly, I had no irritation so far, other than some fleeting redness. The lights in it are bright and make it easier to see hairs. There are a ton of attachments that come with this. I have not tried them all and may not ever try them all. The foot exfoliating attachment is decent enough and feels good to use. I don’t know if it would be immensely effective on very tough calloused feet though. The bikini trimmer works well for more sensitive areas that I’m not ready to try the epilator on yet. I have not tried the other attachments. The battery lasts a very decent amount of time. I have used it multiple times so far and still have not needed to charge it. The unit itself is lightweight and is comfortable to hold. The power button is in a convenient and easy to reach place. It’s not super noisy, but also isn’t very quiet. It’s louder than my husband’s electric shaver when using the epilator head. It charges via USB-C, but the attachment to the tool is not USB-C. It does not come with a charging brick, like most things these days. Easy enough to use one you already have because that side is USB-C. Overall, it’s a good little epilator with many other attachments to use. I think it’s worth the price tag and I plan on using it a lot. ... show more

  • Every Attachment Here Actually Earns Space Every Attachment Here Actually Earns Space
Color: Purple Size: Series 9000 + 9 Accessories
This epilator set is one of the few multi‑attachment kits where I’ve actually used everything and felt like each piece had a clear purpose. The main Series 9000 epilator body feels solid in the hand, and the cordless design with wet/dry use makes it easy to fit into a normal routine—whether that’s a quick touch‑up in a dry bathroom or a longer session in the shower. What really makes this set stand out, though, is how each attachment changes the experience in a meaningful way instead of just being filler in the box. The primary epilator head with ProGuide is the workhorse. The ProGuide frame helps you keep the epilator at the right angle and gently stretches the skin as you move, which makes passes more efficient and a bit more comfortable. The built‑in 360° light is surprisingly useful; it highlights fine, lighter hairs that are easy to miss under normal bathroom lighting. In practice, this head removes short hair very effectively, so you don’t have to wait for full regrowth between sessions. On legs and larger areas, it covers a lot of ground quickly without needing to press hard. The shaver head is genuinely useful for areas where you don’t want to epilate. It works like a standard electric shaver, giving a close, smooth result without the pulling sensation of epilation. This is especially handy for underarms or spots where hair is thicker or the skin is more sensitive. It’s also a good backup if you’re in a hurry and don’t have time for a full epilation session but still want a clean finish. The bikini trimmer attachment is designed for more controlled shaping and shorter trims rather than full removal. It’s effective for tidying edges and reducing length without irritation, and it gives you more precision than trying to use the main epilator head in that area. The guard helps keep things even, and the narrower profile makes it easier to see what you’re doing and avoid accidental over‑trimming. The body exfoliation brush is more than a “nice extra”—it actually helps with the overall results. Used before epilation, it gently exfoliates the skin and helps reduce the chance of ingrown hairs. The bristles are soft enough not to feel scratchy but firm enough to make a difference compared to manual exfoliation with a washcloth. Over time, using this brush regularly seems to keep skin smoother between sessions and makes epilation feel a bit more predictable. The rotating pedicure head is a standout if you deal with dry heels or rough patches on your feet. It works like a powered foot file, smoothing calluses and dry skin without needing a lot of pressure. Because it’s part of the same handle, you don’t need a separate device just for feet. In real use, it’s convenient to do a quick pass after a shower when the skin is softer, and it noticeably improves the feel of heels and the balls of the feet in just a few minutes. The various caps and guides that come with the set—such as those for more sensitive areas—help tailor the main epilator head to different parts of the body. They limit the exposed area and give you more control, which is especially helpful when you’re still getting used to epilation or working on smaller zones. They don’t change the core performance of the device, but they do make it easier to adapt the same tool to legs, arms, bikini line, and other areas without feeling like you’re using something too large or aggressive. Overall, the functionality and effectiveness of each attachment make this feel like a complete hair‑removal and body‑care kit rather than just an epilator with extras. The main epilator head handles long‑lasting hair removal, the shaver and trimmer cover sensitive or quick‑fix situations, the exfoliation brush supports smoother results and fewer ingrowns, and the pedicure head adds genuine value for foot care. If you actually plan to use multiple attachments instead of letting them sit in a drawer, this set makes good use of every piece. ... show more

  • Good-performing tool Good-performing tool
Color: Purple Size: Series 9000 + 9 Accessories
I’ve been using electric epilators on my legs for decades. At first the pulling hurt, but soon, either because I got used to it or because pulling the hairs rather than shaving them decreased the number of hairs, I barely noticed it. I need to use one much less than I used to, often finding tweezers adequate for the one or two new hairs I may notice, but I still prefer to use an electric epilator when there are several hairs, so I was happy to try this newer model. This machine has many uses other than simple epilating, but I wasn’t prepared for the size of the instruction paper. About 75% of the front of the paper is English, the rest being Spanish, while the back is in French and the continuation of the instructions in Spanish. I don’t plan to use the shaving or brush options, so just focusing on the epilating and callous remover functions for now works for me. The instructions are thorough but have a few confusing spots, such as when a part is referred to as one thing in one place and by another name in another. Most are fairly obvious, however, and the pictures are very helpful. The epilator worked great, including on the bikini trim area, which I’d never done before. I usually had the area waxed, but if any hairs were left and they had to rewax it, too often some of my skin peeled off. This epilator let me go back over an area when I missed any hairs without damaging my skin, which I’m very happy about. I didn’t experience any pain, but I didn’t have a lot of hair to remove. The callous remover attachment is just a rotating abrasive head, and it wasn’t as easy to use as my electric callous remover that only has that function. But it did work and would be helpful for many people. Cleaning should be easy as the handle is supposed to be OK for wet use, but I plan to do the cleaning by removing the attachments I use so they are fully submersible without worry. ... show more

  • It works but not pain free, not terrible pain but stinging pain for a second or two.
Color: Purple Size: Series 9000 + 9 Accessories
It works like it should. It's a quality product for removing hair using a rotating wheel type mechanism. Does it hurt? Yep. Does it remove the hair as it says? Yep. It's one of those things that you just kinda "grin and bear it" for a second. I'm an older female who has hormones that thinks i should have stray hair on my chin. I got this to use for that purpose. It works at removing the hair, and the hair is very slow to grow back if at all. I only have to use it every couple weeks or so as opposed to every other day plucking or shaving. It comes with many attachments but I've not used those because I'm a wimp. I will say that I laughed till I cried watching my 16 year old granddaughter think she could just run it up her leg like a razor... it is a good value for the money tho! ... show more

Will change my review once I receive an update, but it's not clear on how you can buy replacement parts. It seems Braun may have a better customer experience in that regard. But I will reach out and see what I can find, but the website that you are supposed to go to Phillips/Encompass appears to either not sale replacement parts for this series or have items that are out of stock so be aware. ... show more
